Those geese - saw a similar family of swans on the canal in Lancaster the other day - dammit didn't have my camera with me!

Sorry should have said Frank not Max in #1788.
Oh dear meant feeders not seeders...

It was busier today than my last pics two weeks ago, must be more people on holidays. You tend to get mainly private boats on this canal as it doesn't really go anywhere except Preston unless you want to cross the Ribble. Also it has no locks. When we lived in the midlands there were loads of hire company boats. We once won a long weekend trip and managed to hit a bridge and another boat during that time. The company who had donated the holiday were not best pleased...
Its the water, it can be very slippery, and boats don't have any brakes.

I like the silhouette, with the birds and lamppost.

Re: Today in pictures

Too hot to get out again today so I've just been having a sort through some recent photos from Tenerife.
1-3 Thought I'd show you a little of the Port of San Juan

4-9 Typical little village near where mum lives called El Puertito which I love -she hates it -says it's run down but for me that's it's charm...Great walk along the coast there and some weird volcanic rock around.

10 The photo of the pool with reflections is where mum lives -was about to have a swim...

I can see why you like El puertito - reminds me a bit of Ravenglass in Cumbria which I always think of as a (charming) rundown fishing village.

When you live in a place like Ocean Tropical it must be easy to think of other places as run down... have been looking at it on the property pages! I like the little Moorish houses!

A lovely place for a holiday but I wouldn't want to live somewhere where the temperature rarely goes below 18 degrees and growing cacti in my garden does not appeal!

Re: Today in pictures

Today's crop from Yesterday in Lancaster

1 Crane at the top of the main shopping street - they've been working on that building on the right for six months!
2 The dome on the Ashton Memorial (just!) seen through a hole in the trees
3 A better view from the next street - it's about a mile away from here, on the top of a hill
4 Close up with maximum zoom
5 Another dome, this time on the Town Hall, the building with the columned portico sticking out...
6 ... or on top of a bus...
7 ...or intruding in a shot of a vintage lorry, from Aberdeen, it said on the side
8 Floral display by the bus stops
9 Old weights, one of several displays in the Marketgate shopping centre
10 Our local wholefood cafe and shop

Bilge water, all the fluids that leak out, seep or leak in, gather in the bilge (lowest point of the craft where the sides meet the Keel) & can then be pumped out, so there's probably traces of oil or cleaning agents in amongst it giving the effect you see on the water.

Did that seem spotterish ?

Spotterish?? is that how you spend your time then? When you're not boozing at tractor rallies or chucking maggots?

I reckon there was some dirty washing up water in there as well - plenty of bubbles from that there Fairy Liquid...

Lawdluvusno ! I try to avoid such pursuits, but on occasion we're dragged into the void by Father dear as we pad round various docks & harbours in Germany & Holland, trying to sate Paters desire for boats.

I know it's somewhat strange, but as a dutiful Son & fruit of his loins I try to humour the owd codger when he's here. (plus it keeps him from being annoying )

Confess ???? Confess !!! I'm not expecting you to run off & do 10 Hail Marys, 5 Our & Fathers & lob a 20 in the Sinners box on your way out after reading my narratives.

They are tales of enlightenment, to be perused & enjoyed, I'm not the inquisition you know, or one of them Jehovah lot, you won't catch me knocking on your door asking impertinent questions.
