I have never been in Rhyddings park. It looks to be a lovely place, and that slide is awesome.
Its about 10 years since my last visit, just thought today, as its a bit moist, a small walk around a new location, had it been a nice day I would have included the reservoir higher up, but that is for another day.

More steps today but the pics lead to a new theme - cats, brides and bikes...
When I was browsing through the Italy trip photos yesterday I came across these. On our travels we saw three brides in different places, not at the ceremony, just wandering about...
I also noticed some cat pics that had bikes in them - they're for Mrs P. Bikes in one of the bride shots too!
1 Ancona cathedral, couple being photographed. We saw them in other locations nearby as well
2 Florence, walking down the street
3 Near Calais, returning from a picnic on the beach
4 Fiesole, near Florence, stone steps and cat
5 Pienza, Tuscany, cat relaxing and bike shadow
6 Besancon, France, cat, bike and parking meters

Am almost at the end of my tether here -the heat is infernal from aptly named anti-cyclone "Lucifer"!! We have hit 40°C on the last 2 days -it's expected to continue at least till Thursday
Have been leafing through my albums and have a new theme of statues...
1 Dante in Piazza dei Signori a Verona

4 Dalemain
5 Slaidburn memorial
6 Installation of modern sculpture Bologna

Gosh am glad I'm here in 20 degrees rather than with you! Much prefer the cold - at least you can get warm but if it's hot it's so difficult to get cool...
Yes that's Richard in the Panama - not sure I would call him cool though! he always wears a hat, not having much up top. That Panama has definitely seen better days, it's almost shredded now, being very finely woven and bashed about here there and everywhere. It's not easy to find Panamas in the shops these days, there are plenty on the net but would not want to buy a hat without trying it esp when forking out £40 or £50 for a decent Panama. He tried some on when we were in Cambridge a couple of years ago at the university outfitters but they didn't have his size. The search continues!
So now I've got to search my photos for some statues... will see what I can find!

Just had a nice surprise - some friends are coming over in less than an hour and we are going to Lake Garda for a swim and then fresh lake sardines at a favourite Trattoria - off to get my swimming togs on!

The contrast of locations and structures is wonderful
Today in Pictures. 5 Arches and beyond. often walked up to 5 arches, but never started at the arches and walked up toward Haslingden.
1. Start point, the memorial garden.
2. Went "off piste" and found this wall, remains of a factory I presume.
3. Bet kids go in here, doesn't look safe to me.
4. Going further off piste found the waterway that fed the factory.
5. This pond fed the water channel into the factory.
6. Back on track, literally.
7. Almost at the reverse point.
8. If you think you are getting in my car..............
9. On the way back, a seed head of the Herb Bennet.
10. Almost at the car, and wash behind your ears.

Was very lucky, we went to a place called Rivoltella (near Desenzano) takes one hour from here - great evening out and the fish is delicious -see the following post for photos. Our midnight swim photos are censored, hadn't been skinny dipping in years!

A selection of photos from my unexpected trip to Lake Garda yesterday.
1 Down to the lake from the piazza in Rivoltella
2 The beach - Sirmione is the long strip of land in the background, a promontory which goes out into the middle of the lake.
3 The little marina in Rivoltella
4-5-6 Sunset (I love the sunworshipper in number 4 looks like he posed for me!)
7 La Taverna del Lago
8 La Piazza from the Taverna
9 Antipasto of lake fish
10 Mixed grill of lake fish
Back to reality!

Well you certainly seized the moment there... sounds like a lovely evening and all the better for being impromptu.
We've been to Sirmione - went on a coach trip to Venice a few years ago and spent a day there on the way... it was March but still nice!
That fish has me drooling - nice to see a plate that's not piled with veg and stuff just pure unadulterated fish and more fish - I find overloaded plates a real turn off. Perhaps we'll have to take a trip to the Hark to Bounty for their £6 Fish on a Friday deal... had sardines last time I was there! Trouble is it takes as long to get there from here via the Trough of Bowland as it took you to get to Lake Garda!
