Nothing wrong with those Sue........I don't get why you think your camera doesn't pick them up well....they are the 'pastel sunsets'.......and beautiful.

Looking at that antipasto of lake fish - one of my favourite dishes in France is the assiette de fruits de mer - including crab, winkles, clams, langoustines etc etc... Takes about two hours to eat and you need tools but oh boy... The nicest one I had was in Reims which is nowhere near the sea... I have that while Richard has his steak tartare which is something else you can't find in this country.
It grieves me that now I live by the sea, shellfish here are almost non-existent - apart from the ubiquitous potted shrimps - which to me are a crime against shellfish and quite disgusting.
When I lived in Accy in the 50s/60s we used to get crabs and winkles and stuff on the market for Saturday tea - is there still a stall doing things like that?

But they weren't pastel, Margaret, they were blood red/orange - and those pics were taken on the sunset setting which is supposed to enhance reds and yellows...
Got some better colours on Saturday but they were taken through the window and there was too much reflection on them!

They still didn't have much colour when I did that, Frank. I think maybe the window glass may be taking some of the colour away - the best place to get shots of the sky here is the upstairs windows but they open outwards from the top so it's impossible to get a shot without going through the glass. I'll have to try doing some outside but there are really too many buildings in the way to get good pics.

most of my sunset pics are taken through the glass of the bedroom window....and I use the Auto setting too.

Today in Pictures. 5 Arches and beyond. often walked up to 5 arches, but never started at the arches and walked up toward Haslingden.
1. Start point, the memorial garden.
2. Went "off piste" and found this wall, remains of a factory I presume.
3. Bet kids go in here, doesn't look safe to me.
4. Going further off piste found the waterway that fed the factory.
5. This pond fed the water channel into the factory.
6. Back on track, literally.
7. Almost at the reverse point.
8. If you think you are getting in my car..............
9. On the way back, a seed head of the Herb Bennet.
10. Almost at the car, and wash behind your ears.
now dave if you'd walked a bit further past the lodges ... you'd have come out at the back of hollands ... and if youd carried on round the corner and down the road to opposite what was the old pub, i'd have made you a brew ....

Is it my imagination or are that sheep's horns pointing forward??

Yes, Sue I do have double glazing, but I open the window otherwise I get reflections
Yes, that's true, but I can't open our windows far enough to look out as they open from the top and not from the side. We have Velux windows in the top storey (it's a four storey house) and they open wide enough to point the camera out of but the view is not so good from up there.
