Is it my imagination or are that sheep's horns pointing forward??
Yes they are pointing forward. We have to keep Max away from the fence to stop him getting the horns in his eyes. The Sheep is a big softie , if Max is not with us he will come for a stroke.
Well you certainly seized the moment there... sounds like a lovely evening and all the better for being impromptu.
We've been to Sirmione - went on a coach trip to Venice a few years ago and spent a day there on the way... it was March but still nice!
That fish has me drooling - nice to see a plate that's not piled with veg and stuff just pure unadulterated fish and more fish - I find overloaded plates a real turn off. Perhaps we'll have to take a trip to the Hark to Bounty for their £6 Fish on a Friday deal... had sardines last time I was there! Trouble is it takes as long to get there from here via the Trough of Bowland as it took you to get to Lake Garda!
It was a real treat Sue as I'm not getting out much at the moment because of the heat!
Did you visit the Grotte di Catullo in Sirmione? Great roman remains there, really worth seeing. Sirmione village is lovely but absolutely heaving all year round.
The fish was excellent -grilled vegetables on a side dish -very healthy!
The £6 deal at the hark to Bounty sounds very good -do they do a proper fish pie I wonder, love it!

Yes we went to the Roman remains, and yes the village was very touristy but still - it was enjoyable.
I remember having grilled fennel and courgettes when we were in Italy - absolutely yummy!
Just been on the Bounty website, fish on Friday is now £6.90 - you can tell I haven't been for a while - was £5 when we first started going! It's a different menu each week depending on what they have bought in, we usually get there quite late and have to take what's left - can't remember if they have fish pie then but it's on their regular menu:
Fisherman’s Pie – Smoked Haddock, Salmon and Prawns served piping hot in a bowl topped with Creamy Mashed Potato and Cheddar Cheese. £11.95
Have to say I prefer it with white fish but seems to be the way these days - all the supermarket ones have gone down this road - presumably farmed salmon is cheaper.
Got to stop - I'm salivating!

Thanks -have just had a look. Been an up and down week, more plusses though than negatives.
Random acts of stupidity like that are so upsetting though...

now dave if you'd walked a bit further past the lodges ... you'd have come out at the back of hollands ... and if youd carried on round the corner and down the road to opposite what was the old pub, i'd have made you a brew ....
I didnt come out on the road, I did a u-turn when I got to the ( I think ) chemical works, and went back down Woodnook Vale, but thanks for the offer.
Is that close to the garage?
Today in Pictures, I set off in bright sunny conditions and ended up with wet knickers.I deferred this walk earlier on in the week due to the slight rain, I saved it, until. it was thundering and lightening.
1. Pot House Lane start point, with a teasel, you don't see many of these today.
2. Down the lane, we arrived at Jackhouse Reservoir, it had started to thunder, but we did a Magnus Magnusson.
3. After a tramp through the grass, we found it, and followed the path anticlockwise.
4. Stinking heck were did the path go.
5. We had to climb down, what is holding all the water back?
6. After a climb back up we resumed, with the rain starting.
7. This is a spider, eating a spider, is that legal?
8. The top res is almost dry, but there is rain on the lens, and the grass and nettles are wiping themselves on my pants, and bob is getting the worst of it.
9. We make a push for the way out.
10. So there we have it, wet dog, wet pants, and a wish I'd done it in nicer weather.

Lovely steps in pic 2 and the spide (even though they make me blanche!) wish it was so cool here -we are all melting in the incredible heat -difficult to sleep or do anything...

Not sure if the weather would be appreciated at the moment over there, it is torrential downpours.
Its a funny old world, we are saturated with all the water and wish for sunny periods, you are under a constant sun and wishing for wet weather.

The grass is always greener...
It's very extreme here -I think the worst I've known it for 25 years. I have been reduced to tears even lately and have been heard to swear it's the last full summer I will ever spend in Italy...
I'm usually in the Lake District with friends this time of the year -it hasn't happened for the last 2 years and they've had poor weather - whenever I'm there with them it's always been good..! Will have to make sure I'm over next year to bring a few rays of sunshine :
