I did have a look at my reference sites and came across the common earthball, I think it was a bit of wishfull thinking as I am still looking for a Puff Ball.

This was the sky here at 6pm last night, taken from the open Velux window at the top of our house. Some of the pics are taken with the camera pointing straight at the sun.

The first of our end of summer storms has finally arrived. Pretty heavy rain and spectacular thunder and lightening -still threatening now and rumbling in the distance.

A series of shots to show the rain and the aftermath around the farm. Also managed to capture some droplets alla Dave!

All weather today Sue -skies look brighter in Morecambe than here today -it's really black out at the moment. Lovely and cool though!

Bet you're relieved to have some rain at last - nothing better than a good storm to clear the air. We had a few little rumbles on Wed here but nothing to get excited about.

Last good storm I can remember experiencing was Italy September 2009 on a campsite near La Spezia - will try and post a couple of pics of the aftermath tomorrow, used up today's allocation!

We do get some spectacular storms end of summer and in spring -it's with being near the Alps -sometimes we get massive hailstones too and the temperature will drop 10°C in a few minutes. Great thunder and lightening at the minute -feels sooooo good to be cool again after a few months of just hothothot! :

There used to be loads of differnet species of duck at Grange over Sands - we used to go there in the summer, are there still nest boxes in the water on stands for the ducks?

In St James Park there is a flock of those Bar-headed Geese they are always in the water - as are all the other geese. Perhaps you are used to farm geese which don't go in the water, but geese do as a rule take to the water.

There were 4 Pelicans in St James Park - 1 died recently leaving 3. One was found injured down on the coast and was rescued and released in the park.

hi all this is a quick one will do a full 10 tomorrow, just got back and getting everything sorted for work, but last night i spent on top of Red Screes, just above Ambleside, this is the view i had from my bed.

i got loads, so will share some more but thought i would stick this on for now, right , I'm off to work, will post more tomorrow

Yes they've still got the little duck houses in the lake - took a couple of pics but they're not worth posting. Didn't see any ducks but they may have been hiding in a different part of the lake - we didn't go all the way round.

Guess you're right about the geese - on farms there isn't usually any water for them but don't even remember seeing many Canadas in the water - they are the ones normally seen about in parks etc.

Lovely sunset - hope it wasn't too cold out in the tent! Look forward to seeing the other shots. Have missed my annual summer Lakes trip -will be nice to see if it's still the same

Camera was in the car footwell so I took a quick snap.

Re pic 8 There is a tree stump in the woods on the walk around the reservoirs at Roddlesden with loads of coins hammered in.

it was over rising bridge as well earlier ...
