A lot of the doors are like that in Bath. A blue badge guide told us that this was to allow for the ladies dresses of the time...the pavements were wider too for the same reason.
Aha! that makes sense - though I can't say I noticed them in Bath! We lived in a Georgian house in Warwick but it was 1806 and our door was normal size - the fashions in frocks had changed by then!
BTW sorry uploading cockup - reference to no 9 in my previous post should have been to 10.

Ha ha Dianne great minds think alike but today you got there first! I had just been through my photos and put together a portfolio of doors - here is the first batch!
1 National library of Greenland, Nuuk (capital of Greenland)
2 Door at the back of the old church, Sisimuit, Greenland
3 Reconstructed Viking church and longhouse (in the back ground), Brattahlid, Greenland The Fate of Greenland's Vikings
4 Posh dining area on board cruise ship Discovery
5 Cork library
6 Brightly coloured shop/office, Cork
7 Somewhere in Cork
8 Turkey comes to Cork
9/10 Georgian doorways in Cork - Irish ones seem to be wider than here, and often have the two side pieces as in pic 9 - I've seen similar in Dublin
Great minds as they say
Lovely varied and colourful selection yours though -less rustic than mine!
It's amazing how you can think of a theme and make a collection ...

Don't worry - I've got lots more - themes, that is. Should keep me going for a while at 10 pics per day - no need to go out for more!
Just a coincidence that we should both hit on doors today! Yours are great BTW - such lovely old buildings... and you can actually see a cow in one of them!

I am starting to get hooked on this macro photography since I got the new lens.
Two more pictures to make up my quota for today.
By the way Margaret I like the Llandudno photos, the ARP poster reminds me of the time I was in it. I was only about 4 years old and the ARP chaps let me be an honorable member, they had a room above the Walsden Co op butchers (near Square road) and they used to stand me on a buffet to play darts.
We never got any action because the enemy stayed well away.

Nice flutterby, they are prettier at a distance though -bu then I'm not a big fan of insects...

I agree mobertol, when you enlarge the photo you can see it's hairy back and just how ugly the face part is.
I don't know the names of many insects and don't usually bother about them but seeing as the lens cost a fair amount of money I want to be able to use it.

Don't have a Macro myself Gremlin personally I would like to zoom in better on flowers -usually find they end up out of focus -must be the "Delirio Tremens"
or the shakes as they are better known in Lancs!

3) War time poster.

6) Ironwork decoation on the ridge tiles.

Strange buildings, those steps in number 2 look at bit precarious.
Today in Pictures, a walk that is more or less level today.
1. Small Tortoiseshell Butterfly, this butterfly landed at my feet just after we set off, so just had to take his photo.
2. Came across a large patch of Globe Thistles just over the swing bridge at Church, there are usually scramble bikes ripping this bit up, but today it was deserted.
3. Bee on a Globe Thistle.
4. Its a Cramp Ball fungi.
5. Walking along Hyndburn Brook Toward Rishton Dip. For some reason the brook today had a bit of a pong.
6. Round the bend towards the old factory.
7. This amount of gravel wasn't here the last time I walked this way.
8. Wheres the Weir? were, there, Oh!
9. You have to look close, but, this is an infestation of black Aphids on Balsam being farmed by ants. There is a maggot at the top, but haven't a clue as to his reason for being there.
10. This is growing 3 feet from the main road, I think its a Bolete mushroom.
heres mine from today ... by the way they are 3 different spiders .. theres 3 big webs attached to a christmas tree, a plant and the lavatera ...
Glad you are having a go at wickthings, mind they don't shoot up your nose. I did wonder if anyone captured the sunset tonight, it was visible from my house which is unusual, as I don't have a view to the horizon. Nice shots by the way.
Never realised tortoiseshell butterflies were so furry till Gremlin and Dave posted their pics today. Aren't they beautiful?
I think Gremlins photo shows of the hairy bits better than mine, I cant seem to get much of a sideways shot with butterfly's that have their wings open.
