Yes that is a great shot of the common frog - here are a few I took, in a tiny pond in a local community garden;

Love those - wish I could encourage frogs in my tiny pond - never seen one yet after five years!

This pond is about 5 - 6 metres square. Why don't you get some frog spawn from a bigger pond and put it into your pond - that might work!

Does the pond have any vegetation, plenty of mud and other life forms for food? If not you need to develop that. Also have some wood pile near by with long grass - as frogs go in places like that in the winter.

Oh yes got all that just no frogs! This is in a town garden but same thing happened when we lived in the country, literally in a cottage in the middle of a field. I dug the pond myself, nice muddy bottom, plenty of plants, logs round the edge, lots of grass, but no frogs. Plenty of them in the garden but none in the pond, they must have been breeding elsewhere.

Must be me, frogs just don't like me - I'll never find a handsome prince!

You could write to Springwatch or Autumnwatch as it's called at this time of the year- perhaps Chris Packham may be able to tell you why the frogs don't go for your garden pond!

Don't tell me when you get some frogs your going to kiss them all just in case?

Re: Today in pictures

I made a little pond in our garden a long time ago and managed to get a bucket of frog spawn from one of the fishing ponds on the farm.
I took a few photos but they turned out awful but one has a frog on it, there were a few hedgehogs who cam for supper every night. My wife used to put food out for them.

Wouldn't worry to much, any Brit worth their salt aren't overly fussed on frogs either.

Just used to give them some dried dog biscuits which we had for the guide dog puppies. We also put a bowl of water down for them.
They came very evening. It was very quiet and you could hear them crunching the biscuits so we knew they had arrived.

Re: Today in pictures

Today in Pictures, due to the deluge nothing much to present today.

1. On the canal there are plenty of these.
2. This was right on the edge, one slip and its breast stroke.
3. Followers of this thread will remember this location when it was awash with Himalayan Balsam flowers, now its like me, its all gone to seed, with a dew drop.
