Today in Pictures, due to the deluge nothing much to present today.
1. On the canal there are plenty of these.
2. This was right on the edge, one slip and its breast stroke.
3. Followers of this thread will remember this location when it was awash with Himalayan Balsam flowers, now its like me, its all gone to seed, with a dew drop.
You must be 6ft tall now Dave with all the rain to make you grow.
Just used to give them some dried dog biscuits which we had for the guide dog puppies. We also put a bowl of water down for them.
They came very evening. It was very quiet and you could hear them crunching the biscuits so we knew they had arrived.
Did they ever bring any young un's! Once I saw a Google Page Ranking of hedgehogs and a family of tiny young walking along - this was over at Owl Hall.

Iv'e never seem hedgehogs for quite some time at Owl Hall .There used to be quite a few around Plantation Road and Arden Hall.
Where i saw them was front of the house. How long ago is it since you've seen them? They are another animal that's on the decrease.
Must be over 12 months now. There was a young hedhog crossing the road outside our house last week about 10 pm., Max saw it and allerted me to it. I picked it up and put it in the garden.
Like the droplet, and the tree stump has character. More close ups please.
Sorry can't oblige with closeups at the moment but will bear that in mind.
The other day when you posted that pic of Bob by the waterfall I said it reminded me of a trip we made in Norway. Have just dug out a few photos from there.
We went on the Flam railway, very touristy, 20km-long train ride on one of the world's steepest railway lines on normal gauge. The gradient is 55/1000 on almost 80% of the line, i.e. a gradient of one in eighteen. It links the village of Flam at the top of a fjord with the main line to Bergen up in the mountains. We just went for the ride, there and back again.
We're heading for the village at the end of this fjord
The railway station in the village
The train stops for a photo opportunity at this waterfall...
And a maiden comes to serenade you...
And another...
The train guards looked as though they might be more at home in Communist Russia
Road with hairpin bends following a stream and waterfall. The train is heading up to the flat bit in the top centre
View looking down from a bridge. You can see a tunnel mouth right in the centre of the picture
View heading back down the valley towards Flam

thats some impressive waterfall, not sure if the warbling woman enhances the experience, but I guess you had to be there.
Today in Pictures, a burst of activity before shopping, I usually go Wednesday, but this week has been all back to front.
1. Along the canal to the park.
2. Down Hygiene.
3. Round the park.
4. I went all giddy at this point, and dropped to my knees.
5. Out of the park at the Church end.
6. Grabbed a shot of this on the way past.
7. Up Checkers and spotted this, I must hunt out all of these, and post the collection, this will be a work in progress.
8. And after shopping this was over the back fence, unusual as these tend to pass me by.
1. The quest begins, and its bigger than I thought.
2. Not really knowing where they all are, I set off for those I did know of. Civic Centre.
3. Barnes Street.
4. Mercer Park.
5. Well there's always one.
6. OK, two then.
7. Transport House (just in Altham)
8..Whalley Road. This was a worry to photograph, as it was right next to a front room window, so took two shots to be sure and carried on my way. A man came out of the house, and I thought he was going to chase me down the road for looking through his window. However he was very nice about it, explained a few things about the plaques and gave me a pamphlet explaining where they all were, and it contained short notes as to why they were there. There are in total 13 of the "Signs of Life"
9. Atlas Street.
That is my distraction for today the quest continues, eventually.
