Re: Today in pictures

Today in Pictures, a short burst was all I could manage today.

1. Autumn fruits.
2. Windtwistles viewed from the canal.
3. Reflective swans, one wearing a broach.
4. The last shot is tonights sunset, the sky looks to be on fire.

I nearly missed it, if it wasn't for the wife putting me out in the yard, I would have never seen it.

Did she put you out to have a wee before bed?

She did, she doesn't like me wetting the chair leg.

Re: Today in pictures

No idea. The Fire Brigade were up there one year with a quad bike and trailer riding over the humps on a practice mission. Perhaps it's a lunar landscape.

Re: Today in pictures

Today in Pictures, I wonder where that goes ?

1. Parking at the top of Willows Lane, a look across at the windtwistles.
2. After walking through an unknown wood, I end up looking down on Accrington and the Coppice.
3.Looking across at Woodnook Vale, in the direction of Baxenden.
4. Looking back at "Accy" from the same spot.
5. Further up an old cart track, Baxenden in the distance.
6. Baxenden again, different viewing point.
7. Pendle Hill & Coppice framed.
8. Over Woodnook Vale to the Coppice.
9. Pendle in the distance.
10. After emerging at what was once the Red Lion ( I used to drink under age there) I crossed the road, and found Bedlam.

Re: Today in pictures

Is no 10 Jacob's Lodge? I thought that had been filled in. The Red Lion used to be a good pub. I've had many a pint or two in there and also the Shoulder of Mutton

The pubs you mention are now private houses, and look like they have been for a long time.
Yes, it's Jacobs Lodge, I couldn't think of the name at the time of posting, so had to ask someone. Its difficult to access now as its all post and barbed wire around it, and across the path around it. When I was young this area was almost open access, now it's all fenced off and difficult to walk through, I had to come out at the end of Cartmel Avenue and walk back on the Road to the top of Willows Lane.
