Unspoilt beach with a brand new road - probably means they are going to develop it
Traditional musicians and dancing which looked more like wrestling
The Cape Verdeans are proud of their carnival and put on a show for us. There were several of these dancers, bare chested but wearing glittery high heels. I assume they were male
Costume with very precarious head dress
Butterfly costume
Another carnival outfit
Metal sculptures in the museum
Finial on the museum building
Chapel/cemetery in the mountains
Catfish Bay - a new development but there didn't appear to be much there apart from some posh houses on the road to the coast
Nice colourful selection there, I'd like a dress like number 5 myself, gives a different feeling to the Cape.
Today in Pictures, moisture in motion, or a paddle on the wild side. (Castle Clough)
1. Were gonna need a bigger boat.
2. The ford at Hapton.
3. First paddle.
4. See the wet bit, thats the footpath.
5. Almost at the return point.
6. Its a waterfall.
7. Time to head back, the light is going.
8. Looking toward Huncoat from the edge of the woods.
9. Still looking.
10. One last look, then its back to the car.
Dakar (Senegal) today. This is a large port city, which has seen better days and declined since the colonial power (France in this case) left. In the morning we went on a trip to Goree Island about three miles offshore, with slave trade associations and something of a contrast to downtown Dakar.
Cars and trucks on the harbour - imports, presumably
Harbour cranes
The city comes right down to the harbour
Ships in harbour - the one on the left is in a floating dry dock
First view of the island
Top deck of the ferry
Buildings on the shore as we approached the island
Old fort on the island
Women disembarking the ferry
Men disembarking the ferry - we saw them later chanting in a street procession - think they were on their way to the mosque

Your cruise landed at some very interesting places.
How the same sunset changes even though you're in the same area Jen and Dave! Looks like there were some heavy skies and I love Dave's pylons -quite menacing.
Of Sue's Dakar shots I love the bright clothes of the locals -number 10 has a great feel to it - the way the men's tunics are billowing out!

Wow I have been so busy since the weekend and only just found some time to do a quick catch up before I have to shoot out again. I thought I would pop in and share a few pictures I took Sun, Mon, Tue but didn't get chance to upload.
I have resorted to creating a folder on my desktop where I can store my daily photos
Here are a few Sun, Mon, Tue:
1-5: Sunday stoll along the canal (Clayton to Burnley stretch)
6 & 7: Sunrise on Monday
8-10: Sunset Tuesday
Heading toward the Slave House - one of the problems with this trip was that the sheer number of tourists rather overwhelmed the place so it was difficult to get a shot without large numbers of bodies in it
Sign over the door of the Slave House
Man in (or rather with) Panama, frowning cos he's concentrating on a rather erudite lecture on slavery being delivered in both French and English by a university professor
The rest of the audience for the lecture
The lecturer

Great pics Darren, you obviously made it back safe and sound.
When I was doing amateur dramatics I was the witch twice in our annual pantomimes so I don't mind owning up to 9 - but she looks a bit too young and attractive to be me!

Interesting location and subject, slavery, not something you would normally encounter.

I have tramped around upper and lower Ogden reservoirs, is this the location of the well?
