Lovely pics again from all. Are the colours of your skies tweaked or natural Dawn? .....
Haven't been inspired to take pics recently -I am too busy faffing about! A month till I'm in Tenerife -should take some then! Keep up the good work all...
Hiya Dianne,
Thanks .... I have adjusted the levels on some of the photos to bring out the rich colours in the sky and enhance the cloud detail.
I am sure you will have a great time in Tenerife and take loads of pictures. It helps to take a break from photography at times, especially before a good old jolly, so that you can recharge your photography mojo (as I like to call it ) .... nothing wrong with that, enjoy the rest.
Sue -the last set of ten to me really are great -wouldn't let me give you more K. You managed to captures the locals and though I spotted the man with the panama hat twice and only one other tourist, they are both shots with a lovely feel to them. Looks like an interesting place.
Dave more great fungi especially the first one, lovely close-up and super colours - and some nice arty shots to.
Darren -your post took me back in time. Used to go to the old catering college on Blackburn road when my sister was training there at the start of the 80's had some great meals. It sounds and looks like it's even better now! Bon apetit...

I think one of the reasons it was so nice was that there are no cars on the island - you will see the contrast when I post my shots of downtown Dakar.
BTW if you want to see the only shot of me from the holiday I posted it in the alcohol/canal thread - you will see why!

Yes I like that one - almost like a bouquet of flowers.

After our excursion to the island we took ourselves off to downtown Dakar for the afternoon as the city centre was very close to the port. It was sad to see a modern city falling apart at the seams. The traffic was horrendous and there were cars parked everywhere - the only place to walk was in the road as the pavements were also cluttered with stalls etc -all business appeared to be done in the open.
It was also the worst place we encountered for hassling - and very difficult to get the hasslers to take no for an answer. Not a pleasant experience.
The first three pictures were taken in the main square.
Government building complete with dead lamppost
These lions don't look very happy!
Another government building with typical car parking facilities
Small mosque in a crowded street
One of the main markets. The building in the background is the market hall, full of fly blown meat and stray cats
Typical street stall
Minaret of the main mosque
Dakar community transport

Art Deco-ish building in a street near the port

Nice colours, I missed that sunset, glad you are on the ball.

Hiya Shillelagh, not bad for shots taken through a moving car window. Love the colours of the sunset.
I managed to get some photos of the sunset yesterday too, which I will upload here in a bit. It was a beautiful sunset and the sky looked lovely.
As mentioned in my previous post, here are some of the sunset photos shot yesterday on my way home from work. Not quite Accrington .... but on my way home to Clayton (Taken from Belthorn, just off the M65 at Junction 5)

Number three is the one for me, what process are you using to give that effect.

Hiya Dave,
Thanks ... the process I use is to take 3 bracketed RAW exposures, i.e., 1 x normal exposure, 1 x over exposed by 2 stops and 1 x under exposed by 2 stops. Then in Photomatix Pro 3 I generate an HDR image using the 3 exposures and adjust the tones until I am happy with the result and a bit of a tweak in Picassa 3.
Yes I like number 3 as well Dave.
I don't think our little camera(we both have the same type of camera Dawn - just in case you were wondering) will do RAW images.

Got it, its the HDR process, I have to say I am not a fan of most of the HDR images, some people use them all the time for all of their images, but just now and again I have to admit that the image used was just right for the process, hence number 3 was one such photo. having said that it is just my opinion and wouldn't want to sway anybody from using the process
