Those narrow streets are more than interesting, I would be there for hours, days, snapping them, especially when the street lights are on.
I love all the pastel-coloured buildings and the way they are all individual and slightly different in height etc. All those streets are just behind the Cathedral.

Today in Pictures, and early walk around Whitaker Park, Rawtenstall.
1. The cherry blossom is just going over now.
2. The bowling green.
3. The Rhododendrons are taking over as the flower of the moment.
4. And close up they are very delicate looking.
5. Its a weed, but very striking.
6. Chives are starting to bloom.
7. Its a baby strawberry.
8. The museum, I don't know whats in, its closed when I visit the park.
9. The Bluebells are at full tilt, so enjoy before they have gone.
10. Pinkbells are not as scarce as I thought, but you have to look hard to find them among the blue ones.
My day in pictures is not very exciting.
Starting with a trip to Rivington Barn, a place I have never been before, where there were hundreds of motorcyclists coming and going.
Then on the way back a quick trip to Houghton Towers which was closed.
Onwards to Riley Green marina, not much doing so I took a photo of a bush by the canal side and a radio mast I could see through the trees.
Back home and a quick snap of the windturbines.
Then after a quick brew I decided to take a picture of a flower to show the people who bought the plant that I am looking after it. Anybody tell me what it is?
It's a fuchsia, Russell. Next time you're having a dull day let me know and I'll share it with you.
Good pics, by the way and you did get around a bit!
Thanks for the information on the plant Susie.
Some friends bought it for my late wife's birthday last June and the kind lady who does the gardening for me took it to her greenhouse for the winter.

I bought a Fuschia recently from a gypsy lady knocking on my door. Have never had one before and they are quite delicate plants but with beautiful flowers. That's a lovely close-up of the flower...

More photos from around the center of Cremona during this weekends festival. The first 4 are taken at the recently opened Violin Museum in Piazza Marconi. The lady in pink playing a violin is American crime novelist Tess Gerritsen. The next 4 are some feaures of Cortile Federico II (a little courtyard in the Town Hall): statue of Antonio Stradivari, Visconti Coat of arms showing the black serpent, Water fountain and the side passage with frescoes. The last 2 pics are in Piazza del Duomo first the student assistents at the festival looking like they're sitting on a bus! Last, I treated myself to an iced coffee at the Bar dei Portici while listening to a soprano on the main stage. (I am such a culture vulture! )

That arched walkway has a very ornate ceiling, and I bet people walk through without looking up at it.

I think you're right Dave, most people walk round oblivious to what's above eye-level - you also never really appreciate what you see on a daily basis either. The courtyard has a walkway like that around every side and they are full of frescoes, commemorative plaques, statues and other features which have been applied over the years. The Town Hall is built around this courtyard and it was completed in 1206 so plenty of time for things to have been added. The cathedral across the square was completed 99 yrs earlier in 1107!!!
Unfortunately some additions are not wanted -like the grafitti you can see in this link...Imbrattati i muri del Comune in Cortile Federico II - Cremona Oggi - Libero 24x7
The man in the photo was caught on the cctv cameras...
This is a good photo showing what the courtyard is like - through the arches you can see the white marble face of the cathedral across the square. Risultato della ricerca immagini di Google per http://www.giuseppenicoloro.com/wordpress/wp-content/main/2012_06/NIK_0293.jpg

Today in Pictures, A walk along the canal to Pilkington bridge then back down the main road home. It was buttercups a go-go.
Lovely resonant greens and the meadows are really blooming now. How does your "best friend" know when you're taking his photo? Do you ask him to say "cheese"?
