Today in Pictures, a pleasant walk that bottom enders wont tell you about, so keep this to yourselves.
1. Start point, as far down Lower Barnes Street you can get.
2. River Hyndburn below the bridge, and the path to Gt. Harwood above it.
3. River Hyndburn as it heads for the bridge.
4. Walking on the river bed.
5. Wheres the weir,Oh it over theer.
6. This area is littered with the remains of long gone buildings.
7. Nature takes back what we removed in the first place.
8. I'm going as fast as I can, you have four, I only have two.
9. The path between Lower Barnes Street and the Hyndburn pub.
10. Once a busy thoroughfare, now a rarely walked path.
My eldest has just moved into Riverside View and he is a keen twitcher. He has seen a kingfisher and dippers down there. Also bats roosting under the bridge.
I really enjoy your photos, Davemac. I'm able to walk with you, vicariously that is. Reminds me of the early 60s living and playing in Priestly Clough. I kept a nature table in my bedroom!

I have not spotted a lot of wildlife down the bottom, but it is a good place for it. Incidently Margaret R is due to move down there as well

Glad my photos hit the spot, I have posted on this thread a lot of pictures around Priestly Clough and Shoe mill Baxenden, going up the Woodnook Vale path (old railway line) and back down the Clough. You might have to go back a few pages to find them as I haven't been up that way for a few weeks.
While I always like to look at the countryside photos and the pictures the more able bodied members post on here I am more inclined to use wheels to get around. I will leave the nature photography to those who enjoy it.
I passed my driving test in 1957 and seemed to have got out of the habit of walking far.
Anyway I like to take photos and post them on here so this is a light hearted look at my day in pictures up to now.
Get up (no photos of that) and then have shower and shave.
First brew of many, proper loose leaf monkey tea, followed by Allbran, I alternate daily between Allbran, Sugar Puffs and Weetabix. Ignore the name on the spoon, it was in 1976 when I forgot to return it to the counter at Birch Granada services.
Watch the news and weather on BBC TV.
See whats new on Accy Web.
Clean my shoes.
Wash up.
Make sure June's little love bird is clean and fed.
Prepare my clothes for the day ahead.
That's my allocation for today, hope you liked the change of subjects.
Now I am prepared for the rest of the day I will have to think of something to do with it.
What an original set of photos - well done for having such a good idea! Have sent some karma

Back to the center of Rome and the Colloseum and Foro Romano! The cross in the Colloseum was donated for the Millenium by Pope John-Paul II in memory of the Christian martyrs who died there. Odd to think what used to be considered a family day out and entertainment! The mosaic was part of a large display of Roman artefacts from the era of Constantine. The picture scratched on the wall of the Colloseum shows a Gladiator with his shield. It is a very atmospheric place to visit and vibrates with history -only thing spoiling it are the hoardes of tourists!! :v

So envious of the location., and as you say, tourists
I think the first photograph of the cat deserves the prize for best of the rest.
Great shot, well done.

thank you ... though if you'd seen him today when the tedster arrived you'd say that jumping off the chair and through the back door and over the fence was his forte ...

Today in Pictures is a slight departure from the "today" theme, for two reasons, the weather has been pants and despite taking my camera with me, no scenes presented themselves. The second, my walks have had a second pooch on our journeys, she lived with us for a couple of weeks when one of her owners died. She has now gone back home, but from time to time still joins our mooching. So as a one off posting I give you a selection of snaps taken from that period, Bob and Bonnie bombing around the borough and beyond.
Final day in Rome in the beautiful park of Villa Borghese. Great place for escaping the crowds and keeping cool. I think it is the most beautiful park I've ever been in. We hoped to get into the Gallery which houses 5 Bernini statues, paintings by Caravaggio, Domenichini and Rubens among others but it was prebooked for the following 10 days! So a good idea to pre-book your tickets in advance if you ever go there. The following link has loads of other photos - it really is a huge place and I didn't see half the things that are there I now realise -just means I'll have to go back again! http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel...hese-BR-1.html
