Today in Pictures, I spent all day transferring emulsion paint from a tin to a few walls, so didn't go out until the sun was going down, so here is Cutwood Park, looking over the res as the sun was going down. The period is about 10 minutes.
Lovely! Are they from your garden? (oops, sorry, I was referring to shillelagh's flowers - got to get the hang of posting etiquette!)
the lilies and the rose are mine .. the sweetpeas and the pink ones are my neighbours .. my sweetpeas are still growing - I threw seeds into the pot .. my neighbour bought plants .. and we planted them on the same day..

Sweet peas are my favourites too - the scent is so lovely, and the colours. They don't need dressing up in a vase - just plonk them in and they look great - and the more you pick them the more they come, and they are so cottagey in the garden. Wonderful!
I thought there was only one ant on there .. on the pollen .. didn't realize till today that there was another one on the flower itself .. mind you I do need new glasses ... anyway heres some more flowers from mine and my neighbours garden .. the lily with the bee that was from the other day .. but the rest was took today and tonight ...

Gorgeous skies - I particularly like #2. Such a nice composition.

Must have been a great growing season judging from the flowers. The lillies are spectacular - never had much luck with them myself.
Thank you for the compliment Margaret, it must be 60 years ago since anyone called me "son".
As far as taking more water with it I will pass on that.
I love to dream and you will know who I dream about most.
A couple of days ago, I was trying to work in my pottery studio. Road construction outside was getting annoying, so I went for a little walk down in the park. I took my camera, and these pics resulted. Even though they're not from the Accy area, I thought you might like to see where I live now - the outskirts of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
1. Going down to the park level.
2. Queen Ann's Lace - at first I thought the red bit in the centre was a bug, but closer inspection revealed it to be red petals. All the flowers in this patch had that, I don't know if it's unusual or not.
3. Chickory, I think (got to learn more about Canadian wild flowers).
4. Going towards the river, dodging the noisy grass cutters and their gigantic machines.
5. Almost there.
6. A shady spot, but no picnic lunch today sadly.
7. The Credit River - a little muddier and running faster than it normally does this time of year. Due to the heavy rains of the past week, I think. Got my feet wet for this one! (inspired by dave mac)
8. They looked pinker in real life.
9.Looking back to where I'd come from.
10. Back to work.
It looks like a nice area -I've never been to Canada though my husband visits every few years for the Royal Winter Show (he's a "dairy" man!)
You mention being a potter -would love to see some pics of your studio and your work!

Yesterday, a trip to Ambleside for some retail therapy then on to Bowness for some dinner.
Slate fence at the recreation ground, Ambleside
Susie's been shopping... actually Richard bought me a lovely Herdwick sheepskin to sit on in the car
Hill behind Ambleside
Old hydrant indicator, Ambleside
Cross-lake ferry and lots of geese, Bowness
It's not quite Garda, Dianne...
But not too bad for England in July!
More of the same
Waiting for dinner
Must be on its way...
Lovely pics Sue -looks like you had a really nice day out -presents and all! Love the hydrant and the blue glasses. Never mind Garda -I'll be over in the "real" Lakes myself again in just a month's time -can't wait! Could you lend me that man in the panama for my photos then

I could not be bothered to go out today it's too hot for my liking so after seeing shillelagh's pictures of flowers I thought I would give it a try. As most of you know I am not much of a fauna and flora chap but it makes a change from my usual subject.
Anyway here a my attempts at nature photographs from my garden.
I should be out there now laid on the grass wearing my woolly swimming costume with baggy legs, drinking wine from an old tin mug.
My sunburnt supple manly body glistening in the afternoon air, muscles rippling, female admirers trying to climb the fence for a better look.
Well I can dream if nowt else.
Lovely selection of flowers you have in your garden. 3,4,7 and 9 are my favourite shots.
Self-portrait next time ????

Apart from watering it the garden cannot be credited to me.
June planned it with a local gardener and over the two years since the house was built it has started to mature. I keep the gardener on and she comes every two weeks.
I always feel sad when I look at it.
As for a self portrait Dianne, this is the best I can do, a bit of artistic licence is needed.
Taken about 1961 at a nuddy beach near Poole.
Mick, if you feel that the post is inappropriate please delete it.

I'm glad you kept your flat cap on, much more sophisticated that way. Why did you have to superimpose such a large costume on.........got it.

On a more serious note - look on your garden with a smile and not sadness it's a wonderful legacy which your wife has left. I'm sure she would want you to enjoy her ideas and the fruits of her labours and from the photos I've seen which you've posted now and before it is a really lovely garden!

A young lady from Walsden named Sylvia, who I took on holiday.
She refused to let me take one of her.
We were engaged at the time, why she threw the ring back later is another story.
Today in Pictures. Mill Lane to Martholme Lane, then when I had done that I went from Martholme Lane to Mill Lane.
1. Starting out, looking over to Read.
2. Looking to the side, Hapton Scouts.
3. This had to be crept up upon, Meadow Brown butterfly, before I could get any closer it shot off among the brambles.
4. Looking over the water treatment plant.
5. Back on the path, heading for Martholme Lane.
6.These are soldier Beetles, I don't however think they are fighting.
7. Pendle Hill in the distance.
8. The view from Martholme Lane.
9. We take a right turn as we get to the bridge.
10. Heading back, a seat that has seen very little use.
