The Conti is where we had our wedding reception 40 years ago this Aug1st
its changed a lot since then is it still a Boddingtons pub?
Yes Mick it's changed - had at least one extension built recently and a conservatory type place. Don't think Boddies have pubs any more, it's probably a free house, they usually have four or five real ales on from various breweriees and they do decent food.
When we came back to the area in 2007 it was closed but has had a real makeover since then and is a very popular watering hole especially in this weather when you can sit outside in the large garden or stand by the river.

Nice set again Dave -not a chimney in sight now in Accrington -how sad...
There is a chimney in each shot, but very difficult to see, they are not used as far as I know, and the one on the factory bottoms has a ring of communication aerials around its top.
Nice change of pace there, number 3 has an emotion attached, not sure if its "I'm tired" or " I can't do this anymore" but I do like a drum, you can't beat them.
Yes I thought that about no 3, ennui, world-weariness - even the drum is the wrong way up...
Looks like it was a good evening out Sue. Nice selection of instruments and beards -I think the man with the trombone wins for the longest beard. Didn't realise the man with the panama hat could play the accordian
Would the trombone count as something with a hole for the competition? I thought the same about that interesting slate wall you posted recently too! (Big hint!)
Yes there's definitely a hole in that trombone Dianne!

I have just gone back and had a look, yes it has a lot of holes in that wall.

No.10. I used to refer to it as Bomb Weed, in 1944 I saw the devastation caused by jerry bombng raids on Manchester & Salford, where ever bombs had dropped that stuff was growing in the ruins. Where the eck had the seeds come from.

I guess its the explosions mixing up the soil and rubble bringing seeds to the surface, a similar effect to the poppies that sprang up in France.

I'm with Dave on liking number 7 best - I have a weakness for Hollyhocks.
The nicest ones I have ever seen were growing along a little side-street between some cottages on the Ille de Re -wonderful island off the coast of Brittany. I will have to look out my photos -weren't digital back in the 90's!
