Had to get down and dirty, DaveMac style for that one (and the one in the stream which for some reason reminds me of an album cover )

The settings I found after recently reading the camera manual make them pics a lot easier to catch.

Re: Today in pictures

No, it was between the cycle path connecting Church & Rishton and the High Street canal bridge in Rishton, there is a lot of digging around the fields as well, I think they are installing some pipes. You can see them in the background of the pic where Duke is catching the ball.

They are repairing a culvert which collapsed

Re: Today in pictures

Just had a google, and you are both right I think. The digging in the fields must just be coincidence.
I recognise the houses in the pic in this link (Petre Crescent)

Re: Today in pictures

Today in Pictures, a walk around Oak Hill Park on a sunny day.

1. The focal point of the park "The Mansion"
2. The flower beds by the top gate on Manchester Road.
3. Top bowling green.
4. Another Giant Polypore fungi, I have found a lot this year.
5. So here we are, down at sod level.
6. The pagoda as was, now just a shelter.
7. Looking from the top of the rockery down in the direction of the main gate.
8. Looking to the left, the War Memorial.
9. The bandstand and beyond.
10. This is what now remains of the "Cannon Bank"

Re: Today in pictures

GPick - atmospheric shots, great colour and I love the silhouetted people.

Dave you can see the start of autumn in the pics of Oakhill park -love the one of the house especially.

DiG - The Greyhound was my local - only found out recently that there used to be a Greyhound racecourse where Atlas Street and all the streets off it up to Whalley Rd are, as far down as where the old Load of Mischief used to be(now the M65). That was back in the late 1700's to mid 1800's -hence the name of the pub. Looks like you've had a very varied holiday so far -hope you enjoy the rest of it.

Re: Today in pictures

Today in Pictures, the changing face of the flora.

1. When I worked here this was the pitch and put area, Moleside in the background.
2. Something for everyone, fungi, droplets, autumn colours.
3. A forest of fungi.
4. One the kids missed.
5. A spiders web with droplet overload.
6. Is that inside out.
7. I'm in the bushes for this one.
8. The gallery, interesting history.
9. The Coppice and Moleside in the distance.
10. The last flush of roses, with the breath of Autumn on them.
