A bit of info for you about that statue -
"Theology Directing the Labours of Science and Art"
"Three figures; theology is represented by a standing female figure holding in her left hand a volume of Holy Writ, and with her right hand she directs Science, who is depicted as an old man studying a globe. Art is shown as a youthful metal worker who is making a chalice, and is depicted in the act of listening to Theology."

Re: Today in pictures
Thankyou for that information. I am so busy messing with the pics I took yesterday, that I didn't think to look at the JRL site.

Me too - but I once made R drive me 19 miles from a campsite in Wales to an art gallery to buy a lapis lazuli necklace I had seen the day before!

I like your style...if that had been me, they would have sold it five minutes before I got there.

Just found something similar on another site but to me we have Harpo Marx with his motor horn on one side and dare I say it Eric on the other (sorry Eric!).

Re: Today in pictures
I once spotted some raspberry earrings...they were rubies with jade for the leaf...very dainty and not overly 'blingy'....I missed my chance and when I went back they had gone.
I have looked for something similar ever since...but come up empty.(sigh)

Re: Today in pictures
I probably would have done it at some time, because curiosity does get the better of me.

Re: Today in pictures
Having followed that Link...I definitely need to go back...it has set me longing.
It will have to be without himself. I can't see him standing around while I let myself be carried away by the beauty of this building....and I think it would take more than one coffee!

Well done! I wasn't too far out, Hah hah. There are lots of artists who like grape beverages too, I should imagine.

These things haunt us. When I was a student (the first time around) I saw a Royal Doulton Viking statuette in a shop. He was different to most Doulton things in that he wasn't all slick and shiny, but gnarly and wizened in an interesting way (at least to me). He was $70 - way out of reach for me. I've regretted not getting him ever since.

Re: Today in pictures
Had a few errands to run this morning, it was quite cold and frosty.
1 & 2. Last time I was here it was filled with buttercups.
3. A slightly frozen canal.
4 & 5. I bet you`re warmer than I am.
6 & 7. The River Ribble.
8. Hey Mr Moon, isn`t it time you were in bed?
9. The view from Read, yes that is a steaming pile of smelly stuff.

Re: Today in pictures
lovely shots.
There are a couple that would be perfect for the current competition, if you haven't yet put them in...please consider it.
