Nearer to home today - quite a big selection of photos of a walk I did with my Aunt and Uncle a year last August from Newton to Slaidburn and back in a round trip. Beautiful walk, lots to see and a really smashing lunch at the Hark to Bounty in the middle!
What beautiful greyhounds - my favourite dogs! (Sorry Bob and Max!)
I do love the Hark to Bounty, one of my favourite pubs. Shame it takes so long to get there but it's a lovely drive through the Trough of Bowland. They do a fantastic Friday fish supper with lots of different dishes to choose from, not just fish and chips. It was £5 when we first started going five years ago and it's still only £6.90. Highly recommended. One day we will go and try the rest of the menu!
That's a toughie Dave, without any scale to go on and no leaves, at first I thought it was our old friend bistort but I've never seen one open that far.
Got the old floras out and I think it's an orchid. Could be Northern Marsh, though most of the pics on the www are much darker pink.
sunset at the minute starts about 9.15pm .. roundabout end of august/beginning of september it'll be about 8.45pm ...

I am not sure where I am going wrong, but I am just not seeing them, even when I am out doing a family taxi job they just pass me by. I carry my camera when I think there might be one.
I will have to stop wearing a balaclava and dark glasses, I think its a hindrance.
Balaclava? Dark glasses? Who are you on the run from Dave?
I don't get it...if you are out and about then surely you must see the sunset(from up a telegraph pole )

As for keeping their knickers on, i'm just the same.
You are bang on again, I must get a pocket book to wild flowers. although I would not have started in the orchid section.
Have sent "k" as a thank you, but it is not enough.
Dave, you are too kind, many thanks for that. Took my k over 9000!
I do enjoy a challenge and that was a good one. I think the clues to its being an orchid was the shape of the petals at the bottom and the spots, but I'm not really that clued up about them.
Anyway, it was a good find on your part.

I must say I feel a bit the same. Here in Morecambe we get gorgeous sunsets but they are usually at their best low down, on the horizon, which is very difficult to see from our house because of all the other houses around. I'm not often out on the prom at that time of night. We don't often get the cloud colour high in the sky, and for that I have to go up to our attic storey and look through the skylight. So, photos of Morecambe sunsets are a rarity for me.

these are my offerings for today in pictures:-
1) Iron mooring ring.
2) Pink (bramble-I think) flowers.
3) Duck...the bird, not an instruction.
4) Cow Parsley(I think)
5) I've got my eye on you......ducks watching me, watching them.
6) Do I look alright? This duck looked like it was admiring its reflection.
7) Big fat hip - not ready for eating yet(for the birds, I mean).
8) Round the bend - my walk along the canal.
9) Woodbine - the flower, not the fag.
10) I am doing this right mum.........juvenile duck preening.

and more...it's Daves fault.
1) a babbling brook by the side of the canal.
2) Mr Kite is coming.
3) Mr kite is going - never gave me a backwards glance.
There would be more but for somereason it doesn't like my files and is failing to upload them...don't quite know why.
I had one of cobbles for Dianne too .

Phew- last batch of 10 -was really snap happy on this walk Hope you will have the patience to look at them.
(Wish i could be out walking there now -still can't walk on my bad knee -have had results of scan -seems I have a trauma injury to both lateral ligaments in my knee and liquid in the joint. Will find out Monday what treatment I need.
For now i'm enjoying the excuse to sit and watch Wimbledon!!)
Some very good photos there, very villagey, I just made that word up, but I think is says it though.
I did notice Aunt Diane walking off and leaving you behind, and then she was first in the pub.
I walked from Blackburn road in Clayton......to the Pilkington Bridge.(there is a rumour that part of my husbands family had a hand in the rebuilding of this structure in 1936,but it is only a rumour).
Met Davemac along the way...and the delightful Bob.......was suggested I come back on the other side of the canal.......so that is what I did....ended up on the Sefton estate...a bit lost, warm and moist from my walk...in need of refreshment.Eventually followed the sound of the traffic and wended my way home.
1) down the steps to the other side...of the canal that is
2) My last bit of a trudge is all downhill...to home and a cuppa(sigh)

Sometimes the files are too big, it uploads files up to 500kb for jpeg, have you tried resizing the photos, apologies if you have already considered this.
Your walk today was very familiar, but the location of the stream stumped me for a while, but got it now.
I did think it might be that so I'm off now to try and resize...and if this works then I will post some more pics. I took 60 today......an indiscriminate snapper..that's what I am.

now let's see if this works.
Hooray...it does.
A view from the bridge.
