Over the border and into the Dales today...limestone country.
A round trip from Austwick going through the little hamlet of Feizor where there's an excellent cafe and then Oxenber woods.

Last 3 of mine plus some taken by my Aunt, same walk, different season.

Interesting, picture 4 post 620, Herb Paris, never actually seen it in the flesh as it were, probably because I haven't spent much time in limestone country. Instantly recognisable though. And more orchids in the next post!
It's a beautiful place or the flowers, plants and landscape -have never been in spring though, yet! The cafe is good too!

Part 1. Today in Pictures, my planned walk was put to one side due to the weather, The Huncoat trail will have to wait. I wanted to be in striking distance of the car. I still got wet though.
1. These dominate the area, they are visible from most angles.
2. As is the case in the area, uphill, but a building long forgotten.
3. I am heading for Hapton Quarry, this strange ditch must have had a use!
4. Ditch and old building, to put it in perspective.
5. Right up the hill we go.
6. Zooming in from higher up.
7. Thistle with cuckoo spit, and quarry behind.
8. Creepy one, just to keep you on your toes.
9. Some old quarry equipment, not used for years.
10. Different angle, it must have had something to do with the ditch earlier?

Nice ones Dave - as always it's the green that grabs me. 37°C here today all the grass is yellowing and dying off. (They're saying we're going up to 45°C from tomorrow -god help us! Hellish!)
Fab picture of the slug and the one that follows it.

Part 2. Today in Pictures.....Save yourself............ its spitting.
11. View across to the "accy" area.
12. Thats high up for a wall?
13. Quarry face.
14. The skies darkened, and you can see a curtain of rain.
15. Its getting closer..........Leg it.
16. Heading back.
17. Will we make it back?
18. I think its gaining on us!
19. You can just see the rain starting on the dry stone wall.
20. Just in the car in time, this was out of the window.

If you look at the last pictures Ive posted, it gives you a flavour of why its all green, and rusty, and soggy, and muddy.

I get my socks wet, so you don't have to.
Love that sky in no 4. We haven't had any rain at all today, amazing.
