Don't know, there was a sign warning of entering a quarry. I wondered if it might be a bunker where they set off explosives, but that's just an un-educated guess.
Today in Pictures, whilst cogitating on this weeks competition theme I sort of had a moment of realisation. I started my working life in Oak Hill Park as an apprentice gardener, and 46 or so years later I am going back photographing the plants I used to cultivate all those years ago. Its so obvious what I was doing, but didn't realise it.
Yesterday was a perfect spring Sunday - had a nice long walk after a barbq with friends. I didn't realise how sunny it was and ended up a pretty shade of pink. A series of photos showing who was about and what they were doing round-abouts where I live.
What beautiful countryside! I really like the candid shots of people. Number 10 has wonderful lighting
Well done with the woodpecker, only ever heard one once (a few weeks ago at Rowlands Gill) but couldn`t get near for a pic.
We have lots of the smaller ones coming to the feeder all winter long: Downies are the smallest, followed by the Hairies. The Pileated ones are the biggest, and usually hard to spot. But you sure can hear them - their call sounds like Woody Woodpecker from the cartoon (well, sort of!)

We(the children and I) walked it down to West Beach this afternoon.
Spindles said I had walked his legs off(and yes, his jeans do look longer).
I took a few pics but I will only upload one.
I hope you like it.

Yes, it has been a really lovely day today.
I have had time to mess around with the pics I have taken. I get almost as much pleasure out of messing with the pics as I do in taking them.
Frequently when I take a shot I have ideas of how I want my shot to look.
Here is another pic.
