I did notice the villa entrance (1st picture) had to the rear a large mast with horizontal aerials, someone at the farm is an radio amateur, not really relevant, but an observation.

I took the photo thinking it could be spiderman's pad with all the aerials and the giant spider-web on the wall Had no idea they were radio aerials - I will take some more pics next time I go past there on my bike!
That house is actually on the outside of the village (not the Villa I meant which is old and was in the first set of picks, with loads of roses on the wall).
Do you have a different user-name for radio or are you both still "Dave Mac" and "Gremlin"? Is it CB-type radio?

Great selection - some real stunners - the last one with the two dogs is one to frame.

Today in Pictures, a moist moment making up for yesterdays dry spell. Where did the "River Stink" go, you wouldn't think this area had three mine shafts and various chemical works around here.
1. Rishton dip is just behind the big tree.
2. Moo cows roam the flatlands, keep away they are vicious.
3. I have to climb back up that banking in a moment.
4. At this point we were unobserved.
5. Devils Bridge, almost hidden by shrubs and tree growth. Just over the bridge is a concrete structure, its a cap on one of the mine shafts.
6. The river as it curves around to go under the motorway bridge, just on the edge to the right.
7. The other side of Devils Bridge, you can just make out the metal rail in the centre of the picture.
8. Bob giving himself a bit of hydrotherapy, note the bare bum.
9. If its not wet, you are not doing it right.
10. Escaped Rape plants are along the banking here, brought down stream and deposited here.
It all looks very lush and green now - Farmer Jackson has some nice heifers there, nice to see them out in the fields. They arent vicious you know Dave -just curious. If they bother you just walk towards them confidently waving your arms and telling them off!

First group from yesterday's trip out by the River Po - lovely countryside and a lot of fishermen and other locals have built various chalets and shacks where they spend time. The first photo is our friends place where we had a barbecue. The pots and pans were inside! This year a neighbour is keeping chickens, a few men live there all year round - a real range of characters some who want to avoid the stresses of modern living... There are a range of these ramshackle buildings of all shapes and sizes. Was lucky to see someone on his way out fishing with the typical nets they use here which are suspended at the back of the boat and lowered into the water when they stop - they call them "Una bilancina" - a little balance or scales. More from this place tomorrow.

I am not sure that is the perspective that I have of them, there were a lot of young ones, not the sort you rub cream on, the new this year type. I did try all that waving your arms stuff, shouting swearing and throwing dirt in their direction, none of it worked. One even made a strange noise and charged, coming within inches of Bob until I pulled him out of the way. I took this picture so the police know which one to arrest and put the handcuffs on. I know you are in the industry, but these are trained, British, fighting cows and should be avoided, vicious killers all of them. Anyway if you see this black one in Tesco asking for its Cravendale back, give it plenty of room.

Nutcase! She isn't in milk yet Dave!
Looks like quite an old pregnant heifer -that stance is not friendly though. It may be that she's had a fright with dogs in the past - who knows. Some animals can be naturally agressive - usually the farmers identify them and sell them as they can be dangerous when older if you get up close in a confined space with them! An adult cow will end up weiging around 700 kilos so you wouldn't want to get squashed by one As a rule they are docile unless they feel threatened.
There's always an element of danger when dealing with animals and, while experience in handling them does help, unexpected things can happen so you should always have your wits about you even with animals you know well.
BTW if you go that way again and the animals are still a threat maybe you should let the farmer know before someone gets hurt.

I am only that way when it comes around on my rota, so the chances are that they will be somewhere else when I next go. But like I said vicious killers these fighting cows.

Funny you should mention the brown one, it did run in our direction, but I was behind a wall by that time, but it did lurk around for a while

We are in a cottage about 6 miles south of Forres, near a village called Dallas.
Who's a lucky boy then? Sitting in the Speyside, there's some good Distilleries all around you. I suggest you get yourself off to one or several proper picturesque some of them & you could maybe "Ha' a wee nip!" just to appreciate the atmosphere an all that!
More architecture.
1) The Harris in Preston.
2) An altar in St Wilfrids Church
3) another of the altars.
4) A cherub carving near the doors of the church.
St Wilfrids Church is hidden away in the centre of Preston. It is really beautiful inside.
