Ok...so here is my day. We went off to Bury. On the way back(because it was such a lovely day...and I wanted a hunk of peace just for myself) I got off the bus at Ramsbottom to take pictures. I had such a lovely time...I was grinning from ear to ear all the way home by myself. Yes.....I know. I'm easily pleased.
So here are some pictures of the day out.
1) the bus to Bury (I cheated a bit here...took this when I got back).
2) Railway sign For Ramsbottom.
3) Train going round the bend.
4) Do we really need all this luggage? - We're only going for the day!
5)The Bucket family - Ma, Pa and teen bucket - except they say it 'bookay'.
6) The Peel monument. This was taken from the footbridge over the railway.
7) We'll never get all this luggage on two bikes.
8) Enjoying fish and chips in the open air. They smelled divine...beef dripping and vinegar. I was tempted.
9) He's escaped. Don't worry he'll be back because he's left his bag(it has his 'snap' in it).
10)The Blue Lamp...can't you just hear the Dixon of Dock Green music?
Hope you like them.

Reason: add captions to the pics.
What a selection of photos today, came on to post mine and got side tracked looking at all the photos sterling efforts from all. I'd better go and sort mine out, back in a smidgen.
1. Start point Hameldon Woods.
2. Looks like the footpath has washed away.
3. I do like a fern.
4. Upwards we go.
5. Thats the destination, Hapton quarry/scouts.
6. On the way up noticed this, it was growing in cow poo, if you scratch the picture you can smell it.
7. He cant keep clean !
8. Thats a steep wall.
9. I climbed over this wall, I know, I should know better...........but.
10. Its too high for me to jump over.
Part 2. Today in pictures, lets have a look over there.
11. I heard water just over the wall, lets follow it uphill.
12. How did that get there, and how long ago.
13. Well, look at that, lets go up a bit.
14. I have to get closer to that, my socks are still dry.
15. I can feel the spray on my face, I never knew this was here.
16. Right, further up we go.
17. OK. if I had four legs I would be first up the hill.
18. I found a clutch of Orchids.
19. Must be near the top by now.
20, Well, its like being on the Moon.
Part 3. Today in Pictures, Planting the flag, I made it.
21. I found ayers rock, it looks smaller close up.
22. I don't know, but it was a long time ago.
23. We wandered lonely as a.
24. This must be the top, time for the down bit.
25. This down bit looks a bit "down"
26. Never spotted this on the way up, mind you I was gasping for breath and on all fours.
27. Do you have to stand in the dirty bits.
28. I'm going as fast as I can.
29. A bracket fungi.
30. I think this is a slime mould.
That concludes todays excursion, I now require a lie down in a dark room.
I think Ayers Rock (or Uluru as it is now known) has shrunk in the wash...it was much bigget than that last time I saw it.
Great set of pics Dave.......you must've walked your legs off.(you are wearing out faster from the bottom that you are growing out from the top ).
