Have had a hectic week as we've been painting the kitchen -major up-heaval. Finished this evening thankfully. Monday was a bank holiday and we went back to our friends place on the River Po for a barbecue. Photos of Italians at play, various rustic dwellings by the river and the typical style of fishing on the Po.

Thanks for that Russell......I know it is a hazy shot, but it was a hazy day at Southport today....and it is a good way from the end of the pier to Blackpool.

Pretty imressive zoom Margaret - I foresee a new career as a paparazzi

Yes, I wouldn't be much good Dianne......It is impressive, the camera. I just didn't have long enough to satisfy my desire for taking pics. I was only in Southport for an hour and a quarter. I need to be able to amble round for half a day.
Anyway I have Photoscaped the pic of the Big Dipper(I actually couldn't believe it when I saw what I had snapped. I certainly couldn't see it with my glasses...it just looked like a smudge on the horizon) just to make it clearer.
I also took some good 'unaware shots'.......families playing on the beach.
I like those...especially when I have played with them a bit.

today i have been to Southport.
It was only a fleeting visit......to test out the Lumix FZ72.
I am sure you will tell me what you think of my offerings.
1) Coffee Al Fresco in Leafy Lord Street.
2) Help me somebody....I think my belly button has fallen off.
3) This is one of the rides in Pleasureland......I took the shot from the far end of the pier.
4) Another long range shot.
5) Leafy Lord Street.
6) I know this is not so clear.....but it looks like a big dipper to me.......I took this shot from the very end of the pier at maximum zoom.
Southport doesn't have a big dipper....but Blackpool does......surely it can't be the big dipper at Blackpool.....can it?
I await your replies.
Nowt wrong with the photos, and with that amount of zoom we await some interesting photos.
I cant find the other photo I took at Southport, this one is very grainy, it was not the best of days.
The tower looks to be nearer St Annes's than the dipper ( or The BIg One to give it it's correct title). It's beacuse it's further round the coast and you are looking at it behind and to the right of the dipper.

Some interesting insights there, never seen that type of fishing before.
I've found out with such a good zoom , you need to have a rock steady hand on full zoom or a tripod. Great shots Margaret
Yes Frank, you do need to be rock solid.....and I'm not. I have invested in a monopod...and today I took my Gorillapod, but used the rail of the pier to rest my elbows on.
The only thing wrong with this camera is that there is no remote shutter release..and for the super zoom shots there should be. I know that the alternative is to put it on the timer....it would just be good if Panasonic could bring out some optional release cable....it would have been better still if it had been wireless ...but then of course this adds to,the cost.
I am hoping to get out and about a bit more this summer....so there may be some interesting shots.....or it might just be more of the same.

Dianne I like the little Dachsund in the second picture.....I would have cropped that and made it a picture in its own right.
Might give it a try. He's called "D-D" a real pest - harasses the chickens which roam round there!

Oh, do Dianne...I think it would make a great little shot.
I spend more time messing with my pics than I do in taking them....well sometimes anyway.
I enjoy picking the interesting aspects out of shots.

This is the non zoomed pic of Southport beach...you can see Pleasureland at the right side of the picture...with the wheel ride......the zoomed picture is taken from this same spot.

Nice shots, Margaret! That new camera of yours is really something
Thanks Carolyn....I am impressed with it so far, and I am still finding my way around it.
