Lovely butterfly shot. Italians really know how to enjoy their meals. I had some good Italo-Canadian friends, and always had great times with them around the table. Good food, vino, expresso, all made better with good conversation!

Re: Today in pictures

Today in Pictures, more a mooch-isimo (I hope that's nothing rude in Italian) rather than a walk, but with only 20 minutes, the doorstep was all I could manage.

1. An often snapped location, and in winter I have descended here on my jacksie, one year I will come down here when its icy and ski into the canal.
2. Buttercups a Go-Go.
3. There is a horse in this field, you can see its walking pattern.
4. One false move and I could lose my bowler hat.
5. Riley Swing Bridge, one false move and we will see if my watch is really waterproof.
6. That is the turnaround point today.
7. Beggar.......I left my handle at home.
8. I don't think they want people to go in that field.
9. A bitty picture, there's yellow bits, wet bits, sticking up bits and bits that go around.
10. I am in stealth mode here, they could break a leg with those wings, the reason they didn't move was because I was making a noise like a teacake.

You're braver than me, Dave. I was once surrounded by a flock of around 20 Canada Geese. I made it out alive, but they don't call them 'bum biters' for nothing!

That countryside is very dangerous, there are things that are poisonous, stuff that stings you, thorny things that scratch you, and all of it gets up your nose and makes you sneeze, and makes your eyes water. Then there is the wildlife, it pecks, bites, stings, and chases you. I find the best way to go into the countryside safely is to carry a very large drum, like the ones in brass bands, and bang it all the time, you will find that most things will give you a wide berth, even people, I like a drum, you cant beat them.

I am a great fan of Italo-Canadian chef David Rocco - I imagine you might know his TV programmes. Delicious food and lovely places in Tuscany...

You had your eye on the evil gaggle/flock/whatever of swans - had you noticed the nonchelant British fighting cow on the horizon Dave? Keep your wits about you on your country jaunts - you never know what awaits your over the next brow...

Yes, Diane, I've watched his shows. I particularly like the ones he sometimes does with Italian grandmas. He's so cute, and the grandmas love him!

I did notice the fighting cows, but as I was on the opposite side of the water I felt safe, for as we all know cows cant swim.

Re: Today in pictures

Here is anther photo of Blackpool taken from a distance.
It was sent to me by a good friend and was taken from an aeroplane coming into land. It was on the night of the big red sky a month or so ago.
Isle of Man in background with the Morecambe bay turbines.
It just misses the "Big one" which is to the left of the photo.
I take no credit for the picture.

British fighting cows cant swim due to the steel plating covering the hoof region, this assists when they do flying kicks, this added weight means they sink in water.

They do have speed though, which requires a tree to be in close proximity in order to be able to climb one. British fighting cows are very devious though, they position themselves between you and a tree before revealing themselves, who thought it was easy.
