Unplanned trip out on Sunday into the hills above Piacenza where we visited the lovely mediaeval village of Castel Arquato - spot my 'other half' in a few of the photos We managed to avoid the rain till after lunch which was a shame as later we drove through some stunning rolling hills dotted with sunflower fields and it wasn't fit to take more pics... More to follow tomorrow of a visit to a lovely art gallery and a delicious lunch at a place a friend recommended which was excellent. I had a snap-happy day!
I looked at the pictures first and thought you were stalking the guy in brown shorts, until I read the text, lovely buildings by the way.
Today in Pictures almost turned into "Fings on a Fissle"
1. I think this is a Heath Fritillary.
2. A Small Skipper.
3. Ladybird.
4. Six Spot Burnet.
5. Across the fields and into town.
6. Plantation Mill, either this gate post has been landfilled or this gate is for Umpa Lumpas'
7. Very little remains of what was a large area covered by Plantation Mill.
8. Counting from the top, the fourth pond.
9. This is the third pond.
10. This is a Fringe Lily, often mistaken for a water lily, in the second pond.
Ooh I do like that Burnet......and you know I am not one for things that creep or fly...well not in the insect world anyway(they seem to know I am scared of them).
Something so little can frighten the bejasus out of me...it makes no sense at all!

I am not allowed to post photos of him on the web -from behind doesn't count. He's very much anti-internet...doesn't appreciate the time I spend on it or understand it at all...Bone of contention I'm afraid
He hates me taking photos all the time too...

I have one like that too Dianne...they must have fallen of the same branch of a tree.......except, recently I bought him an Ipad mini...he is no nearer understanding or getting to grips with the internet, but he is far more accepting that it is a tool that can be used to good ends.
The only thing is I keep hearing him shout Maaargaret...I have lost it again(meaning the page he was on).

They have bright colours to be noticed, and when you get close to notice them, they fly away

If he is anti internet he wont ever know if you post his picture, the thing to do is hoover when he is watching football, I bet he sends you to play computers before the oranges come out.
Yes, but when it is me.....they don't fly away from me...they fly towards me.
This new camera is too expensive to drop.
I haven't seen nearly as many butterflies this year......but then Ihave remained indoors quite a bit......this years hay fever has been the worst ever....even when I am taking the meds.
Today coming through Hoghton I could tell they were cutting grass long before we got to it. Tonight my chest is as tight as a drum. Just off now to take my meds.....not that they will do much good.

I like those. I frequently take pics in colour and then mess with them to convert some of the image to mono(sometimes all of it).... I think it lends a bit of 'drama' to what might be a very ordinary shot.
It certainly works better with some pictures than others.
I was thinking though, aren't we a bit perverse?
My dear old dad took pictures at a time when it was only B/W or sepia.
He spent hours and hours with special photographic pencils trying to give his images realistic colour.

Thanks folks, glad you like them.
I prefer creative to "perverse" M, it certainly adds a little "drama" to a pic that would otherwise be pretty plain
(I actually prefer the old B&W pics)

And with that my perimeter coppice walk was over.
Number 6 is particularly interesting - nature wins!
