On reflection, perhaps, I did go a little over the top with my oil pic version .
Here it is in simple B&W.

I'm still curious as to how M has manipulated it and asked her to post it on here if she will

Re: Today in pictures
this is not my picture.......it is one that Accyexplorer took.
All I have done is to change it to a Monochrome picture...for impact and dramatic effect.
I hope you like it Jason.
Alongside the original for comparison.

Re: Today in pictures
I like that version of yours better than the oil painting one(in fact I like it better than the colour version if I am honest).......and it is not dissimilar to what I have done.
I just cropped the picture to give more impact to the tree...oh and I turned up the contrast a bit.

I am glad you like it.
(or at least I hope you aren't saying you do just to save my sensitivities )

Re: Today in pictures
This picture was taken in Lee Bay in 2007.
I was going to say it is similar to the one taken by AccyExplorer....except it is only similar because it is of a solitary tree.
Mono with the original for comparison

Not at all M, I don't care much for folks sensitivities (I prefere folk to just be honest) if I didn't like it, I'd have to say so.
I never thought of cropping the pic to focus more on the tree, very creative of you

I think, I'd of just turned the colour saturation down a little on the original, as much as I like B&W/mono pics I think a little colour doesn't go a miss either

Re: Today in pictures
The original is just the way it came...it was early evening.....June so the evening light was 'golden'.......I was out and about with my camera nad just thought it looked 'burnished.
I have another one taken as it was going dark and that looks quite moody.
Yes, I like colour too. Not every picture benefits from B/W treatment.

You could also try a change of the aspect ratio when taking the photo.

Re: Today in pictures
Here is the same tree from a wider angle...and later in the evening...the sky doesn't look dark , but my recollection is that it was almost dark.

Re: Today in pictures
Windows 8 has an average program for messing photos about.
This is one I have just had a play with.
The cat was taken using manual mode and is straight from the camera a Nikon D7100. 40mm prime lens

Re: Today in pictures
This messing about with photos has gone to my head, I hope it soon goes away.
I took this in the Read Con last night with the iphone 5s.
The Club had only been open half and hour that's why it not busy.
The chap holding the pint kept it in front of his face all the time I was panning the phone round the bar, I was expecting a blurred photo but It turned out reasonably well.
When you think about the old box brownies we used many years ago it just shows how far technology had advanced and how much processing power the phone have.
I had a Tandy desk top computer in the 70's and I still have the label from it which reads 32Kb memory.
