Re: Today in pictures

Yes Russell, I do like Southport. It is like me...very refined(ok you lot...you can stop laughing)
I love the walk along the pier.....people watching.....shooting pics from a distance so that they are natural.
Today I thought I would give the panoramic setting a try.

We use our bus passes......we set off at ten past eight, we arrived back home at twenty past four.
Had lunch in a Wetherspoons in Southport.....mainly because himself said he could murder a pint(then proceeded to murder two - maybe it was because I was paying).

I left him at the top end of the pier and I walked to the end - he said I was a long time.
I lose track of time when I am taking pics.

Re: Today in pictures

Margaret, if I decide to have a ride out one weekday I would willingly take you both for company. I would leave you two to go your own way if you wanted and the draw would be the cost of a pair of smiles.
As long as you don't want me to go in Weatherspoons.
I was going to go in one day about noon time when we stayed at Byng House.
I opened the door, nearly tripped over two prams and there were two babies crawling on the floor, mothers at bar swearing like Scouse dockers, probably learnt it at their mothers knee
June turned round and walked straight out.
I enjoy watching the entertainment from the pier, just as you start to cross the lake down on the left.
Always good turns who have the confidence to get up and sing.

We also had a day at the seaside, would have prefered somewhere else but we had the wifes grandson and he wanted to go to Blackpool.

Re: Today in pictures

Margaret, I hope you don't think I was being snobbish about your choice of hostelries in Southport. It was probably a one off when I went and it stuck I my mind.
I have only ever been in one Weatherspoons and that was the White Hart at Todmorden.
That was OK after I had picked the peas off my bread they had plonked on top of my egg, chips and peas, probably run out if side plates.

Russell, when I go during the week I tend to go on my own. I like to be able to do my own thing.......but on a Saturday we do a little of what each of us likes......for him that is window shopping. For me it is striding out on the pier and taking pictures. We only went into Wetherspoons today because he had a wild thirst on him......fancied a lager.
It was before the lunchtime rush so the hordes hadn't arrived.
We spent about 20 minutes listening to songs from our romantic past....at the start of the pier.

Re: Today in pictures

who is the chap in the wheelchair gpick?
I seem to think I have seen him somewhere. I have not been to Blackpool in the last 30 years apart from Heart hospital so it's not Blackpool where I know him from.
A good selection of photos again sir.

Re: Today in pictures

More From yesterdays outing.
When we go to Southport on a Saturday I like to lurk by the Town Hall...a popular venue for weddings.
1) quirky Wedding car.
2) more of the same.
3) Inside the wedding car - much prettier than I imagined.
4) The bride.
5) two young wedding guests...done up in their finery.
6) Happy day.
7) Strange alien guest at the wedding...well perhaps not alien
8) this is how it all starts...a walk on the beach, sunshine, sweet words....all my imaginings of course.
9) end of the pier....'Say cheese'.......a family picture being shot.
10) a family down at the waters edge(which was a long, long way from the end of the pier......not as far as Blackpool tower.

I hope you enjoy my whimsical wanderings.

Re: Today in pictures

Sunday I know, but these are Saturdays efforts, only posted today due to being stuck out in a field, roughing it through with nothing but lots of Beer, lumps of barbelyqued meat & a humptyback old tent for shelter (my how we struggled! ) I give you ......

A proper tangle of tractors - Converted fire engine (still putting out fires .... sort of ) - On Parade like good little Troopers, despite the hardships - I know where our tent is from here! - There's no getting away from Tractors - The Witchy ducking pool with Witchit & fellow accused - Smokin' - Obviously the Witchy pool wasn't deep enough, should've give her more lead weights - Deary me, looks like someones stuck! - Cheapskate Eyeties! Where's the other wheel?
