Re: Today in pictures
I had a ride with my mate to see some commercial vehicles and cars at Harrogate.
Warning, my photos don't include scenery or flowers.

Re: Today in pictures
A few more from today.
1. The latest thing in technology 1946.
2. The old Scammell Highwayman, I drove one like that for thousands of miles.
3. No comfort in a Scammell cab.
4. The old lorry from hull had hand greasers on the axle, working oli lamps but no front brakes. I thought I had it rough.

Not sure what is happening with these photos, but if I click it to open it, then click it again, it is then displayed the right side up.

Number 6, the cafe appears to have just put tables in half of the road and put a canopy over it !

Looking up shows some interesting buildings, and sort of gives an atmosphere that isn't noticed at ground level, if that makes sense.

Re: Today in pictures
Today in Pictures, an area designated for some woodland management, and a few footpaths.
1. The bridge that takes you to Gt. Harwood.
2. Its absolutely umbelliferas.
3. The River Hyndburn before it take a dive in elevation.
4. Now the mandatory wet bit, mine.
5. Time has not been kind.
6. Right that's it, time has beaten me.

We practised this a lot when I was growing up, although my mum disguised the ceremony by saying the electric meter had run out and she didn't have a shilling.

Electricity Dave, are you saying you were a bit posh?
my fathers excuse was that the man delivering the parrafin oil for the lamps hadn't been because his donkey was lame.

I believe the "area" is called fiddlers wood (bottom end of Clayton), there's a lodge managed by the butcher I fished there a few years back (very well stocked).

We did move up the social ladder slightly, but I did cut my teeth on fitting gas mantles and trimming the wicks on paraffin lamps, I am no stranger to getting a can full of Aladdin or Esso Blue oil from the Ironmongers.
