Todays tour, Sonthofen (Any ex-servicefolk out there will probably be familiar with this little town in the Allgäu) & the Bodensee Lindau.

Brauerei Gasthof "Hirsch" the brewery is just round the corner - Tobacconists & touristy tat emporium - One of the local churches - The Town hall & figures representing the "Egga Spiel" Egga-play - Stadt Sonthofen - Whats left of Generaloberst Beck Kasernen (Med centre for generations of Snow Queen troops many of whom turned to rather sheepishly on a Monday morning with an itchy crotch ) - Lindau Island - Harbour mouth opening onto the Bodensee - "Schwaben & Lindau" tourist cruisers - Town hall "Rathaus Lindau" front & back.

Re: Today in pictures

Decided to take a drive to Lake Windermere today.

1. A boat on the lake.
2. A very friendly swan
3. That didn`t like being tagged.
4. The property prices are unreal, the brown boat house sold for over £10,000,000 four years ago.
5. Looking back down the lake from Ambleside.
6. Off out for a row.
7. Another nice boat.
8. How much was that boat house!
9. A river in Ambleside.

Re: Today in pictures

Another Yesterday in Pictures, under blue skies and a moderately warm sun we ventured around Dean Clough Reservoir, it must be because it was the second day of Spring that brought out all the people, it was the busiest I had seen it.

1. Heading down through the Pines to the wet bits.
2. Although it is still early in the season the buds on the trees are just starting to burst.
3. The lower wet bit.
4. I can only guess what this jetty was for, perhaps people used to have small boats on here?
5. The walls that used to be boundaries to the fields are slowly succumbing to gravity.
6. At the top edge of the top reservoir.
7. A view down the length of the two wet bits.
8. A similar view but just a few steps to the left as you look down.
9. Mid point, the overflow between the top and bottom reservoirs.
10. Now at the bottom of the wet bits with them behind me and looking over to Pendle Hill.

Lovely shots, and well done for dodging all the gawpers. You'd never guess there were crowds about. Number 6 has great lighting

If you look very carefully, you can see the snowdrops ... -15 (without the wind chill) when I took this pic. But these are Canadian snowdrops ... tougher than boiled owl.

Re: Today in pictures

There was only one destination today "Kloster Scheyern" just outside of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, settled by Benedictine Monks to salve the immortal souls of their flock & supply the local populace with a pretty damn fine set of Beers,(triv alert - third oldest brewery in Germany) just the thing for religious salvation.

Hop Farm at Niederthann - Preparing the Hop nets - Scheyern Brauhaus - Inside the Kloster Braustüberl - Why are my ears crinkling? - Ah, holy water - Kloster Scheyer x2 - Chapel roof & wall paintings.

As you are being poetic:

Sometimes, when I'm out walking my munchkin on bitterly cold early spring nights, I think of the last line of Shelley's "Ode to the West Wind." I know; I'm weird sometimes That's one sonofabitch who hasn't stood on the corner of Portage and Main on a cold night.
