Interesting 'wildlife' in your garden, Gremlin
Not much traffic over here for our artisans co-op either.

Re: Today in pictures

Today in Pictures a slightly disappointing walk, Hameldon Woods, another of my walks that scramble bikes have churned up.

1. More of a day of wet bits, and close ups.
2. To early in the year for professional moistness.
3. So more of a practice.
4. I have a leg on either side of the bank, its a good job I am twelve foot tall.
5. Still very bare looking.
6. The leaves are just responding to the early warmth.
7. But not on a widespread basis.
8. If you look at the bauble closely you will see they have printed a short fat chap on it.
9. Time for a last splash.
10. I will return when the bluebells are out, and hope the scramblers have moved on.

I know I haven't been very active on this thread lately....but here are my offerings for today.
1) A hand made 'Thank You' card for a very nice lady called Joy.
2&3) these are Celandines I think...Davemac will correct me if I am wrong
4&5 Canada Geese....on the canal bank at Clayton
6,7 & 8 are blossoms of some description.......flowers on the tree but no foliage as yet.....come on Dave, put me out of my misery and tell me what this is.

All apart from number one were taken on my trip down to the post office.
Number one...well, that one...... I made myself.(puffed up with pride)

Last question first, early flowering cherry, they look wild and not a cultivated variety.
First question, they are indeed celandine, lesser celandine to give it its full title, also referred to as marsh marigold or pilewort due to it being used to treat piles. A little known fact it was Wordsworth's favourite plant and not daffodils, he wrote many a poem to them, and had them carved on his tomb. And who said this thread wasn't educational.

Re: Today in pictures

There are a couple of these on the hill where Ma lives and himself has been asking me what they were....I told him that I didn't know, but that I knew a man who did...so thank you for that information.
As for the Celandine, at least it shows that I was listening when Miss Butterworth took us on 'nature rambles' all those years ago.
Yes....you can certainly learn a lot on Accyweb.

Re: Today in pictures

Off work, More nice weather. Took a walk to the parents house to pick some horses out of the hat.

#1-2 Picked up some bread from a friends mum and fed the geese on the way there

#3-4 Mum&Dad had some bread that was going, so I fed the swan on the way home, then #5 I took a picture of the barge

#6-7 Was testing out the lens-blur option, a new feature on google-camera

#8 Incomplete photosphere up Jacksons

#9 Agreed to meet my housemate at asda, I was early so snapped this complete-photosphere that makes for strange viewing in this format

#10 Incomplete photosphere that shows that up-close to objects/surfaces does not make the knitting of photographs an easy task for google-camera

Re: Today in pictures

Today in Pictures, as Mr g. said we bumped into one another on the edge of the Craggs on Pendle, always nice to put a face to a keyboard. I notice our pictures are very similar, I suppose if we are on the same route, the output must be similar.

1. Looking down at Sabden.
2. Some semi circular wall, perhaps for sheep to shelter, or shepherds.
3. The Craggs in the distance, and a wall vanishing over the hill.
4. The last time I stood here there was snow.
5. I didn't know it at the time but I snapped an Accy Webber.
6. Where the land meets the sky.
7. A cairn that changes in size and shape every time I walk passed it, Churn Clough at the bottom.
8. The fast moving clouds are changing the colours constantly.
9. Just climbed over that style, and now I am stood in the wet bit to take a snap.
10. A well weathered fence post, it could have been here for many years.

You're very lucky, any closer and your camera may have been damaged irreparably.
I think I owe daisy and duke a biccy each, they seem to be walking to heel there.
