Re: Today in pictures

Today in Pictures, As it was a holiday today everywhere was busy.

1. I have walked above this tunnel many times and never noticed it, I did have to climb over a barbed wire fence and down a steep slope, and then reverse the process after, so not going to do it again any time soon.
2. This tree originally wanted to be a bush, then had a career change.
3. The target for today, Churn Clough reservoir.
4. A new twist on a wet bit, long distance wet bits.
5. Sabden tucked away in the base of the hills.
6. Still looking long distance, I wont get wet this way.
7. That's better.
8. Another cloudscape.
9. Almost green rolling hills.
10. Its a sign.

Re: Today in pictures

Some eejut decided to have their Birthday on a Bank Holiday and as if that wasn't enough, some other eejuts decided to go to Malham.
After a great trip via Settle, we arrived in Malham at 1030 and it was already chocker block with pesky tourists. We waited for the other team members in the delightful Lister Arms and enjoyed tea and toast.

After a walk up to the cove and up onto the top, keeping well back from the edge, we made our way back to a now, very busy Lister Arms for lunch.

Return trip via Stainforth and a stop off at the Crook o' Lune picnic area for a bit of caterpillar hunting, Swift spotting and for a few random photos.

Re: Today in pictures

Thanks - It was my step Daughter's Birthday (The Reluctant Hiker), I was one of the eejuts who thought Malham was a good destination on a Bank Holiday, I have been told I should be old enough to know better.

Re: Today in pictures

We should have had lunch when we got there at 1030, it was lovely and quiet in the pub then. When we got in after our trek, outside was chocker and inside was a bit quieter, we managed to get a table for all 5 of us - well a table for 4 and another on the end for the odd one out. They were very busy but the service was brilliant, if a little understandably slow. It was just a pity that we were so far from home because the Wainright's was going down a treat and the organising eejut had to drive home. I don't risk drinking more than a pint on such occasions and encounters with suicidal lambs on the way home justified that decision. (No lambs were harmed during the making of this story).

Re: Today in pictures

Our final trip for this week involved a journey south in the rain. M6 and M65, bypassed Accrington and made our way to Harle Syke. Queens Mill Museum has been on the agenda for a while and yesterday was the day.

This place is well worth a visit and a good time was had by all. The day was rounded off by a trip through the Trough of Bowland and an ice cream at Dunsop Bridge.

The first one was supposed to be squirrels; but my neighbour's cat, Kelli, arrived to break up the party. Number two is self explanatory ... and appropriate for the 70th. anniversary of the liberation of Holland. And number three: remember those pics of snowdrops at -15c? This is what it looks like now.
