You are welcome.....I used to be a bit of a bird watcher when I was growing up.
I still like to spot birds now and again, but my vision is much less reliable these days.

A trip to Manchester Airport to collect the wayward holidaymakers. I decided to visit the Runway Visitor Park to pass the time and get into anorak mode. The final 2 pics are the delayed flight from Heathrow which I was waiting for.

Back to Lake Garda last week when my nephew and his friend who were visiting from NZ. A selection of photos from that day out - we went to Sirmione and visited the Roman site right on the edge of the headland know as "Le Grotte di Catullo" (photo of an aerial photo depicting the place included to give a better idea of where it is!) it is an amazingly suggestive site with fab views.
“Beauty is an experience, nothing else. It is not a fixed pattern or an arrangement of features. It is something felt, a glow or a communicated sense of fineness.” ~ D. H. Lawrence
Could be that when you extend the lens it lets light in. It's not an easy fix.
Try taking the same shot a few times. each time extend the lens a little further.
Have you another lens to try or are you using a bridge camera?
It has me baffled (not hard,i know).... it happens every time i use zoom (even slightly),yet its fine without .
I don't have a lens as such due to it being a "bridge camera" G, i'm wondering if something has broke inside or our peg has messed with the settings.

There is nothing wrong with auto unless you are being really experimental.
The reason I asked about automatic is that in the zoomed images seem to have a higher ratio of light shades than the ordinary shots. Is it possible the compensation settings have been altered.
Does it give you that effect on all zoomed images?
