Today in Flowers, a bit sparse due to todays location.
1. A lone Rhododendron on the top of the Coppice.
2. Cotton grass, again on the Coppice.
3. Brooms, view behind is Manchester Road leading to Baxenden.
4.Variety of Dock with some type of winged insect.
5. Moss growing on Hameldon.
6. A thistle with bursting buds.
7. Lichen on the top of a wall.
8. Vetch, just off the footpath.
9. Bramble, included to show the spines.
10. Larch cones, back on the Coppice again.
Love these flower pics especially the thistle.
Isn't that "variety of dock" what is commonly known as bistort?
Your Bob is looking very trim. Has he just had a haircut?

other names for it is snakeweed/dragonwort.....and it can be used as an astringent, and it is supposed to be good for treating catarrh and diarrhoea....or at least a concoction of the root is.
Enjoy your wet walk.
I feel a bit deprived. I was going to go out and look at what was going on for the Jubilee Celebrations in Mercer Park, and take some pics - somehow, I don't think there will be much happening in the way of picnics and the like.
I was also going to photograph the local street party - but that also looks unlikely now. Drat!

I'm not sure of the variety of dock, I just went off the leaf, not a specialist in wild flowers, but I get by.
No, he has not had a trim, he is halfway to his next one.
Looked out of the window and it is persistant rain, so its waterproofs again today.
Yes, pretty sure it's bistort, I have some of the cultivated sort in my garden. It's not actually in the dock genus most of which have pretty insignificant greenish flowers.
Well trimmed or not Bob is looking pretty good, can the same be said for his human??
Raining here too, only just found out (you wouldn't think we lived here!) that Morecambe is attempting to break the record for the longest street party today. If it goes as far as they hope we should be able to see it from our house as it will be going along the prom and past the gap between the houses through which we can see the prom and the sea. I wonder if it will get that far in the rain. We might take a wander down if the rain stops otherwise I will be watching the Thames pageant on TV.

It is always the same when you plan a jaunt, the weather always has the last word.

Flickr: davemac43's Photostream Thanks to Mrs. P. and her guidance, I now have a flicker page, and on it, is one of Bob when he really requires a haircut.
Up to now I have managed to remain incognito, but I am aware that Mrs.P. is ready with camera to capture my image should our paths cross.
Although with my flat cap on I do look like Fred Dibnah
You are most welcome Dave. You have some very good pics on there. I would encourage those who take a peek at the snaps to leave a comment.....it is always encouraging to see people have looked at your snaps - even better when they tell you that they like them.
There are some on your flickr pages that I am envious of.
As for recognition...it might be Bob that gives it away.
I suppose you are too young to remember Lobby Lud........an advertising gimmick used many years ago by the Daily Mail....you had to be carrying a Daily Mail, accost the fellow with the phrase 'I believe you are Lobby Lud, I claim my ten bob' mind you that was when ten bob was worth something.

Well decided to go out in the wet and get a few piccys before coming back to watch the pageant on TV.
Here goes... they're a bit grey but it's a record of part of my day and perhaps a record day for Morecambe.
1 An indication of the weather
2 Hotels on the front and a few flags
3 Gardens on the front
4 The Town Hall - a crown of flowers and the Union flag
5 Hope the party gets this far...
6 We're British, we don't mind the rain...
7 These boats didn't make it to the Thames...
8 The street party went all this way along the prom, at least

1 Looks more like a jumble sale
2 I don't have a Bob but I do have a Richard - think he needs a trim too
3 Our neighbour all dressed up with somewhere to go - his auntie organised the party
4 Think this hotel wishes it were by the English Channel
5 Home again - this is our back lane and the back of our house
6 Close up of the floral crown
7 Wild flowers in the old cemetery behind the house
8 Spanish daisies on the garden wall
9 Welsh poppy on the back lane
10 Lilies in the house, I don't normally keep them on the cooker but it was a plain background!

Dave I have looked at your Flickr pics and they are lovely. Beatnik Bob is hard to beat.
Margaret I was going to leave a comment but it asked me to sign in to Yahoo so I didn't.

Yes, I think you have to sign up to Flickr(I think when I first joined you could leave a comment as a guest), but I have never had any spam from them.
Ah, well the thought was there.

Thanks for looking, still got a lot to upload yet, but time is the key here.
PART 1. Today in Pictures, is very much a walk on the wet side.
1. After coming off the canal, down through Barnes Square.
2. Down Barnes Street, towards Gt Harwood.
3. Over the bridge.
4. Arrived in Gt Harwood, heading up the old railway line, now a cycle and walking track.
5. LOOK, i'm wet, fed up, wet, tired, wet, grumpy, wet, TAKE ME HOME NOW.
6.Heading towards the Tottleworth turn off.
7. Down the steps to go under the old railway bridge and along Tottleworth Road.
End of part one.
Poor Bob........he looks most dischuffed to be out in the rain.
I haven't stirred over the doorstep today.
I feel really sorry for those people who had planned a picnic in the park or a street party....what a let down for them.

That might have been Dave talking to Bob Margaret...

11. Bit further up the hill.
12. Looking back down the hill.
13. Up the "brew" from the "Rishton Dip"
14. "Dunk way" lights, you don't know the trouble I had clearing the junction of traffic, my case comes up next week.
