Aww....what a lovely little friend.
Would love one of those...except..Big Lad, Ginge, Ruby and Rufus won't let me have one(my cats)......they would almost certainly terrorise a puppy.

Not normally keen on anything "Grenouille", but I can make an exception for their bulldogs, funny little manimals, that they are.

Re: Today in pictures

That would have been a great walk...especially given the spring weather. Your walk would have taken you past where I used to play when I was a lass....and past my dear old Ma's house.
The Magnolia tree in her back yard must be in blossom now.
Lovely pics Ryewolf.
I think the blossom is my favourite.

Re: Today in pictures

As my local branch of Santander has temporarily closed I had to go to Blackburn today instead. The normally bustling streets were empty, even at 14:00 on a Friday afternoon, there was very little that was open, it was almost like stumbling onto an abandoned town...

1. Looking down King William St after leaving the bank...
2. The view of Church St and the Market
3. The Cathedral Quarter...

I absolutely hate going to Blackburn, but I love your pictures...it makes the place look far better than it is. Makes me want to go just to get some very empty streets.
Well shot.

Re: Today in pictures

Nice shots, Ryewolf, and great that someone is recording this current situation.
In years to come these shots will be part of our history, maybe by then we’ll know a bit more about whether it was (1) necessary, (2) an over-reaction, or (3) the first example of a recurring event.

Re: Today in pictures

Day 11 of Lockdown. As I can't go to my normal places to watch the birds, I went to Oak Hill Park and photographed the rather flashy Mandarin Duck.

Re: Today in pictures

Thanks Margaret, the plumage of the female bird is very dull in comparison.

Always the way in the natural world Ryewolf....I guess it is for the survival of the species....less colourful means less likely to be spooked and eaten..or shot.

Hi Ryewolf,
Nice photos and a nice walk!

Reminds me of a walk I did 4 years ago (aged 73). I was visiting Accrington & friends for the first time in some 20 years or so. As I was staying at the Dunkenhalgh hotel in Clayton, that is where I started my walk:
- Blackburn Rd (looking at where I served my apprenticeship English Electric) on to the junction with Whalley Rd.
- Whalley Rd. on to Whinny Hill
- Over Whinney Hill to Bolton Ave. on to Burnley Rd.
- Down to the Cemetery (visiting Mother & father's Grave)
- Down to the town centre
- Up Church St. to Cotton St.
- Belfield Road (looking at the house number 5), where I used to live and no. 1 where Grandad Swain lived.
- On to Nuttall St. and Mount St.
- Through Priestly Clough (my old playing grounds)
- Up and on to St. Georges Playing fields (where we played football & cricket from Woodnook school)
- Down to Belfield Rd to Hudson St. (looking at my old school Woodnook)
- Down Royds St. to Nuttall St.
- On to Manchester Rd.
- Down Warner St. on to the Market Hall (had a coffee & sandwich)
- Back up to Whalley Rd.
- On towards Clayton and back to the hotel.

Starting time: 10:00am
Finishing time: 16:00 ( 17:00

Cheers

Re: Today in pictures

That was a very good walk....and took in a lot of the places from my Childhood...especially the Belfield Rd and Priestley clough bits.
I used to tramp up Belfield Rd to school every day...to go to Woodnook school.
I used to go to Peel park, but took the Avenue Parade route.
Priestly clough was our playground....up as far as the five arches....so thank you for stirring those memories.

Hope you kept your distance, little gits probably a carrier! Still, I suppose it stops him being turned into crispy fried!
