I admit you've got me on this one pal, I haven't a clue.
For pic one, the only thing I can think of is a red brick building in either Heywood Road or Marlborough Road. For pic two, I haven't got a clue!

The first one could be the old Church Conservative Club (CCC) on Market Street, it was built about that time if I remember rightly.
