Strangley enough no room for boils busy training my warts.

But while it's still at the painful stage anytime you get the inclination just give him a friendly tap in the infected area, you'll soon have him trained for the long jump.

Re: Advice on Boils

Leave it alone... It will eventually pop, usually in the bath or shower, a nice steamy room will open the pores and encourage the exudate to come out. If he gets several of them they could be treated with antibiotics, but I wouldn't bother with just one. If he is a teenager and a bit self conscious about it, tell him to wear a scarf or polo neck and think himself lucky that it's not on his forehead like my last one was..

Re: Advice on Boils

You could if you wanted to do, do what my grandmother did. Get an empty glass bottle with narrow neck(like the old ancient sterilised milk bottles) Hold the bottle upside down and get a lighted taper and insert into bottle. After the flame goes out stick said opening of bottle onto said boil. Within 5 seconds you will hear an extremely loud scream and bottle will be full of puss from said boil. Not really to be reccomended but that's what my granny did. Old fashioned remedies what.!!!!

Yes Terry......I bet she tied string round your loose teeth and tied it to a door handle too.......My gran used to make either a bread poultice......or put a sugar and soap dressing on boils...... both of them always worked a treat...... though I am not quite sure how she decided which boil would have which treatment.

Re: Advice on Boils

He is a teenager Lettie (16) and last night refused to go out of the house. Differant story today as i said no college means no going out over the weekend. Think he's going to live with it for a few days.

Thanks to everyone who has replied with advice, particular Less and yerself. But going to takes Lettie and let nature take it's course. (Less hastle.)
