Any suggestions anyone??
Im feeling pretty yucky at the mo, think ive got I would say as a bad cold but stuck as to what to take that will help. Have tried the normal cold & flu stuff, tablets, capsules, lemsips etc but nothing at all seems to help. Along with the usual snotty nose (sorry) my ears feel like theyve popped, my eyes arnt sore but tender to touch around them and I have a great barking caugh and shallow breathing (along with caughing up some funky coloured gunk!). Have been like this for a bit now but have got a lot worse over the past few days.
Can anyone suggest anything that will help??
Just cant do the rest thing, the boys wont let me lol

If your coughing up funky coloured gunk as you put it, you probably have a chest infection and need to go to see your GP an get some anti biotics, especially having young children in the house emzy, you don't want them to catch it, but to take the yucky feeling away, a whisky all in or two don't have help

Re: Any suggestions anyone??
These two have had a cold over the past couple of weeks, thought i had caught that (which i normally manage to shake them off quite quickly) Its the caughing, tight chest etc thats bothering me more really because I cant settle at nights so not even getting a good rest when I can.
Will get into drs on monday, typical things always get worse at a weekend when the drs are closed

Re: Any suggestions anyone??
Sounds like a chest infection to me, have you tried ringing NHS direct, i had the exact same symptoms this time last year, i got in to see an emergency doctor up at the hospital (via an NHS direct callback), did`nt really want to as i thought i would be wasting his time but he said if they had any free beds i would have been admitted!!!!

Re: Any suggestions anyone??
Awwww you poor thing, sounds like a chest infection hun. you may need some antibiotics to get our self back on track.
Failing that you could get yourself a nice hunk to rub your chest(etc)
Hope you feel better soon hun

That's what they are there for emzy! you don't have to be an emergency.
Your ears have probably got pressure on them due to swollen glands or throat.
Def get the chest sorted though if it doesn't clear. We'll be waiting to hear what the doc says, so make sure you go, lol!

Re: Any suggestions anyone??
It really does sound as though you need an antibiotic to clear up the infection. Until you can see your doctor try inhaling steam from a bowl of boiling water, add Albos Oil if you have any or even a spoonful of Vicks, with a towel over your head. It relieves the chest tightness and helps the sinuses and eardrums. Honey is very good if you have a sore throat. It has slight antibiotic properties and it's very soothing. Swallow a teaspoonful, slowly, every couple of hours and drink it mixed with hot lemon juice - you can add whisky, it won't do any good but you may like it. Take paracetamol every 4 to 5 hours and get as much rest as you can.
Get well soon.

Re: Any suggestions anyone??
If you have any menthol crystals they work. My doc recommended them .. only a few in an old mug fill wi boiling water and stick it on your bedside table at night ... that will help you breathe during the night. DONT DRINK IT and dont let the kids at it either. The house stinks because they are powerful but that helped me during the night. When i was ill a few weeks ago my doc told me to go to bed for 48 hours use the menthol crystals, banned from alcohol so she told me just to drink the hot toddy minus the alcohol, and take paracetomol ...when i said i dont have any she said take ibuprofen 1 3 times a day.
Get better soon emzy ... i just hope you dont have what i got ....
