Re: Birth Stone Meanings
Mez I was born in August and it's just my luck to have a birth stone I've never heard of! Is Sardonyx worth anything? could be worse it could have been coal!

Re: Birth Stone Meanings
I'm in September, so mine are sapphires. I wouldn't brag too much about wisdom, though!

Re: Birth Stone Meanings
Cashman.......Amethyst is supposed to guard against drunkenness too.......and the romans used to stud their wine goblets with them so that they would be protected.
Full of useless information.
My birthstone is a pearl.........they are supposed to be tears unless they are your birthstone.
Mummiboo.......other sources do quote Peridot as the birthstone for August......so now you have a choice.

Re: Birth Stone Meanings
I am also an amethyst. I have to say that I don't think it's anti-drunkenness properties are working very well.

Oh but it is, Lettie. It ensures that you don't have to spend a fortune to get drunk!

Re: Birth Stone Meanings
One web site I visited showed 7 different stones for September and 6 for August. The rest of the Months all had more than one stone.
I think you are attracted to the stone for you.
