If you want a good flea market, try blackburn rd between the old grammar school and the railway arch....

Re: Carboots/Flea markets

I grew up on what used to be Grant Street which is quite close to the area Tealeaf refers to. It is astonishing to remember the number and variety of retailers that thrived along that part of Blackburn Road. I think that there is only the chemist shop, the bike shop and Little Paris that are still relatively unchanged. The damage done to independent retailing by the Supermarkets is dreadful. They are the main reason that shopping in any town centre, not just Accy, is such a despiriting experience. There seems to be little now to distinguish one town centre from another. Everywhere you go you see the same shops selling the same stuff. What incentive is there to get out of town and visit another? " Oooh, we must visit Accrington, they have a branch of Netto there." Yeah, that's going to bring em flocking in? I don't think so!

Re: Carboots/Flea markets

There's details of the Clitheroe and Accrington Car Boot markets on my free www.carboots.tk as well as another 20+ in Lancashire. Most have phone numbers to check if still running this late in year.

Gisburn is very good but not if it's raining because it's all outdoors. At one time it was free to sellers but now they chasrge £5 per car, which is still cheaper than others. Unless they've put it up.
