Re: Electric or Gas?
Is the fuse box not working, just affecting the (gas) heating, or other electrical things too?
It might be the thermostat?

God I'm a dumbo with anything like this, but it might be the thermostat.
Before you call out anybody have you no friends/neighbours who could advise you as to which sort of person you need to help?
Good luck hun x

It is a lottery. When I was in London I was always being ripped off if I needed to just chose someone out of the Yellowpages. Happily I now know a man that does, for nearly every job now.

Re: Electric or Gas?
The "little white box" is a switched fused spur.
Get a lecky to look at it. Any decent house-basher should be able to sort it.
Have a look in the Yellow Pages for a Nic-Eic (Nice-Eck) registered electrician. It stands for National Inspection Council - Electrical Installation Council. This will ensure that you are not hiring a cowboy with a terminal driver and a pair of wire-cutters.
I hope this helps.

Re: Electric or Gas?
Thats a bit unusual. When you switch the switch on does the little red light under it light up or not? If not and you have changed the fuse in it, have you checked you have not blown a fuse in your main fusebox ( or tripped a trip out if you have those instead of fuses) ?

No, mate. If I were to follow the European directive, I would connect it:
Brown>Black, Black>Grey & all hell would still break loose.
Those buffoons in The Hague can swap the colour codes all they want, but they cannot alter the end result!
