Free swimming at Hyndburn Sports Centre

I saw some notices displayed in Hyndburn Sports Centre today and just thought I would make Accywebbers aware of this.

From 1st April all under 16s and over 60s can swim for free at Hyndburn Sports Centre during general swimming times.

they might not let you take them in on your own..every child under 8 is supposed to have an adult to supervise them one to one

I'm pretty sure they have general swimming every day.

They rope parts of the pool off for lessons in term time but there's still the majority of the pool left for the public to swim in.

I saw something on the news about this a couple of months ago with a different council. The government grant to allow free swimming would have meant them losing thousands in revenue.

Yes, you must try and make the effort Emzy. Where I go swimming they have babies from a very young age in this sort of inflatable dingy/seat ... they love it. Bit like this and they absolutely glow at the pleasure of it:-

Zoggs Trainer Seat: Amazon.co.uk: Your Store

Older they get, the more problems you may have getting them to accept the water.

Re: Free swimming at Hyndburn Sports Centre

Found what I was on about now

For example, council leaders in Mansfield - home of double Olympic champion Rebecca Adlington - said they were offered £49,000 per year.
They claim they would lose out on around £250,000 in annual revenue if they granted the free access.

Re: Free swimming at Hyndburn Sports Centre

When I started swimming lessons there in 2004, we had to wait for the school session to end before we went in. I only managed 3 lessons before I injured my shoulder, so I still can't swim.
The pool stank heavily of chlorine, which I now know is a sign that all those little darlings had been peeing a lot.
What I know now about chlorine deters me from ever using a public pool again, unless they use ozone water purification
How Does Ozone Water Purification Work? And What is Ozonation? - Associated Content
..but that wont stop them peeing in it, will it
