They're quite nice barbecued with a little chilli sauce and baked potatoes.

Re: Guinea pigs... Talk to me
One sensible question and 3 daft answers and we wonder why a lot of the older members dont post often.

So, what's wrong with a bit of "daftness" sometimes, Neil? In my view the whimsical, tongue-in-cheek aspect of Accyweb is an integral part of its charm and helps to put it streets ahead of similar local messageboards.
There's nothing genuinely nasty or insulting in any of the posts and it doesn't prevent other members from posting sensible answers and advice for Entwisi as I'm sure they will soon.
If daftness in all its many forms disappears from Accyweb, I reckon there'd be a heck of a lot more members who gave up posting.
Apologies for the thread wander, Entwisi. I'm sure someone will be along with some advice presently. However, if you do get fed up of the little critters...

Cheers, always good to have a fall back plan for when the inevitable happens....
As for daft posts, yes we can all have some fun hence my wording, I just hope someone does have some advice as well :-)

Re: Guinea pigs... Talk to me
Never kept them, but there is a pet shop on Whalley Road near the general post office that sell them they might give you advice or have a book on keeping them

Re: Guinea pigs... Talk to me
I recall my grandson having one. It escaped under the floorboards and died there.
They make smells, but less when alive.

Re: Guinea pigs... Talk to me
We've had several over the years & if you get a male & female, well expect to end up with loads of the little ratbags We gave quite a few away, in fact we've got one now & she's a right porky madame, but they're easy enough to cope with. Check the Web as there's all kinds of sites full of useful hints & tips look for Guinea Pigs/Cavy.

Daughter has one of them converters, she leaves it with us when she's away, they need feeding twice a day on a quite varied diet, plus hay, they also drink a lot of water, so the cage needs cleaning regularly.
You will also need to buy plenty of wood shavings for the bottom of the cage, & they scatter it around so be prepared for constant use of the vac, they are also short sighted & very timid, ones enough.
I wouldn't bother, they are more trouble than their worth, & can live a long time, so take future commitments into it as well, wil you want them in five years time.
