hairspray on heels?

I have been looking up ways to make slippery shoes into non-slippery shoes, and one tip that keeps coming up is to spray them with hair spray.
Has anyone on here tried it?does it work?and if so, for how long?
I have got my wedding shoes (and had them dyed, so cant take them back) but they have a completely smooth sole.I'm frightened enough of tripping down the aisle and now i have a new worry of slipping down the aisle

Re: hairspray on heels?

I also found that tip, but i'd rather not as hopefully im selling them after the wedding to get a bit of my £60 i had to pay for them back(!) If the hairspray works i would much rather do that so i dont damage the sole anymore than i have to...maybe i will spray them today and parade around a bit to see if i do/don't end up on my behind.

Re: hairspray on heels?

Sell them as having roughed up sole's so you don't slip. They might be worth more

Re: hairspray on heels?

I think that you are being very optimistic about being able to sell them on after the wedding.
I have sold footwear on ebay - only leather footwear sells - then at only a small fraction of original cost, even when in unworn or worn once condition.

I shall be putting them on ebay as i know there are a large amount of women with big feet and only a few places to buy big shoes........if they were an average size i might think twice but they are not. *yes i have big feet*
Plus i know i will never wear them again so i would rather have £5 in my pocket rather than a pair of shoes in my wardrobe, taking up space and collecting dust.

Please reconsider - Is the risk of a slip down the aisle worth the fiver you might get if you sell them?

I used a bastard file, like the one below, on a pair of Rhonda's shoes the other week when she went out.
