You can empty most of the water out by taking the drain pipe from wherever it goes - either shoved in a vertical drain pipe or pushed onto another fitting under the sink. When you take it off put it in a bucket low down. This will allow it to drain. You might need to end up with it very low to drain all the water out. Collecting it in a dust pan then pouring the water down the sink will work for the last water. By lifting the drain pipe high you will stop water coming out.
Trouble is you might have to pull washer out to see where the drain goes and it will be heavy full.
Sound like either your drain pump has failed or it is blocked up with something.
Often you can drain water out of a little pipe where the filter is. This is very slow but if it has one will mean you can do it without moving the washer.

Thanks for the replies Neil and the pm I received from another member... but I have managed to drain the washer out and get the clothes out, still soapy and very wet...they weigh a ton, lol
I disconnected the draining pipe from the sink and unscrewed its bracket and drained the water into a bucket...but would you believe that had a flippin hole in it, so just finished mopping the kitchen!!!!
I'm hoping its just something stuck in the sump pipe, but trust my neighbour who fixes washers to be having a night out!!! He will return to 2 notes through his door
note 1 - HELP, clothes stuck in washer, please could you come round sat am
note 2 - panic over, washer drained manually and clothes out, when you have some spare time this week, please could you have a look to see if it can be fixed
Trip to the laundrette for me in the morning then

Mine did that once (stupid nightmare dress i got for a wedding was in there!!) It just stopped for no reason mid cycle, luckily when I turned it of at the mains, turned it back on and put it on drain then rinse and spin i worked but I had a proper panic on so know how you feel! Mines a washer dryer though so doesnt have a filter thing on the front but luckily it did sort its head out and finished washing.
Filter is often under a little door on the front of the washer right at the bottom. Dont unscrew the filter itself or all the water will flood out.
This is the most common cause HR .. done it many times, you will have to undo this filter .. difficult to catch the water when it is only about 1" from the floor. (hope you turned the washer off). Has to be done though ... have a feel in there .. probably summat jamming the pump. Have you any wires missing from your bras ? .. LOL.
emptied it from the back Kate, and have unscrewed the filter, bit of water came out but not loads and only a bit of fluff, but would hate to have to drain the whole washer from there cos as you said it is only about an inch from the floor

Have you had a good feel at the back of this filter to see if any foreign objects jamming it? Doesn't go in very far. If not, leave to the professionals..
I usually find socks in mine.. i fixed karaokemans the other day and it had a 2p piece stuck in the pipe.....

Last time mine did that it had eaten a sock which it actually managed to spit out into the grate in the yard where the drain drains into! I was amazed that it had got through the pipes!
