Re: How do you???
The adhesive makes fitting easier, and you will have no air bubbles in it, silicone keeps any water from getting under it, you can get both from any reasonable diy shop (by reasonable, I dont mean b & Q and the likes). *can here a knocking, think its the door*

Re: How do you???
Prepare the floor before you lay it. Make sure the floor is fairly smooth and has no high spots as these will show through the finished job. Ask about adhesive where you get the covering from, they usually sell the appropriate stuff for the type of surface you are going onto.
Don't be tempted with the paper thin stuff.

Re: How do you???
Will have to see whats under the carpet to see what kind of floor it is, already have lino in kitchen which is glued down so not sure about taking that up,
my floor is uneven, thats something that i will have to live with, doesnt really bother me, aint spending more than i need to (and can afford)

Re: How do you???
It shouldn't costs a lot to level most floors, just some elbow grease usually (available in various sizes and many colours lol).
If the floor is wood, make sure it is properly secured to the joists, use screws if you have to. Wooden floors have a habit of squeaking when you put a permanent floor covering down.

Be really careful if you are screwing down floorboards. many older houses have electric cables and pipes sat in notches on top of the joists. You don't want to screw through a cable or pipe. Don't think you are safe if you keep away from the middle of the floorboard either. As a rule of thumb you are but I have seen cables right at the edge of the board before.
