I've got a combi microwave/oven/grill which needs mending. Does anyone know of a reliable repairperson?

Re: Microwave Repair

Not in Accrington I don't. Wouldn't it be cheap enough to buy a new one?

Re: Microwave Repair

There a dude down one of the sidestreets off BlackburnRd (Larock?). Think he still might be there, my dad used to take videos and other electrical items to him to get fixed. 15 years ago now mind.

Re: Microwave Repair

Thats the one. It was about 15 years ago when I went in - I just remember that his place was filled with all sorts of stuff! Worth a try but theres bound to be some place somewhere.

Re: Microwave Repair

Have a look in the Yellow Pages..

Although on behalf of whoever gets to fix it, please give it a really thorough clean first

Although grill/ovens are more expensive, repair fees can make a new one look cheap.
With computer monitors I have been quoted £40-£50 just to look at them.
So I fix my own.

Whats actually wrong with the Microwave? total power failure, buttons don't work, not heating up, sparking, etc?

Re: Microwave Repair

It might be worth trying Carl Ramplin (Clayton fella) He's fixed my washer/dryer a couple of times but I believe he also does cookers. Don't know about microwaves but he may be worth asking, as he's very reliable and I have found him to be reasonably priced. He is in the yellow pages, but I do have a mobile number for him. If you want it, send me a pm..

Re: Microwave Repair

Love their website, I could listen to their background music all day long.
The question is can they fix your microwave ?

http://www.microserve.co.uk/about.htm

They probably charge £120 just to put the plug back in. Doh !

No matter what you do, don't tamper yourself. My friends brother in law did just this and electrocuted himsef. Apparrently he discharged a capacitor with his hand. Thousands of volts.
Be warned!!!!

I haven't done a thing about it yet. It's still out in the shed doing nothing.

Re: Microwave Repair

Theres an appliance repair shop across from the old grammer school on Blackburn rd. Aisian lad called Aslam runs it & is qualified to fix microwaves. He served his time on same course as me. Never touch the cap on a microwave, they can store up to 6000volts & will kill. We were taught to discharge them twice before working on them cos u only touch them live once! May be with age of it that a new unit may be more cost effective though.
