Re: Mouth Ulcers

It sounds too simple but.... gargle with salt water, not too strong, do it for about three or four days and it should be gone. Do it in the morning and after lunch, and then finally at night before bed and dont have anything to eat or drink after it. It tastes horrible but it should do the trick. Always works for me anyway.
Hope this helps. I would say one flat teaspoon in a half a tea mug of tepid water, gargle, then spit out.

If you have a dentist I suggest you have him see it.
Dentists are trained to diagnose all problems in the mouth - not just teeth

Re: Mouth Ulcers

Depending on how brave you're feeling, put some salt on it (it will sting like heck, but it works) or as Bonny Tuesday said gargle with salt water, these usually work for me.

Like Margaret says...see a dentist...but in the meantime, Bi-carb soda is good for taking the sting out.

Re: Mouth Ulcers

definately think it needs investigating further, but in the short term if you like cheese eat a small amount regularly it keeps the acid in your saliva down to a minimum so will help with the healing process

Mouth ulcers can be a sign of vitamin b1 deficiency, hows your diet? Would definately get a second opinion if symptons persist.

Re: Mouth Ulcers

Also, do you smoke? Smoking ruins the protective coating that we have inside our cheeks and on our gums. You really should go and see the dentist. He will check for all sorts of nasties, and he knows more about your mouth than a doctor would. While you have the ulcer, dont eat tomatoes, strawberrys, pineapple, or pepper, they will make it worse.

Re: Mouth Ulcers

I have had ulcers twice on my tongue, my doc refered me to my dentist, who sent me to the oral clinic at BRI and last year The Royal Blackburn, on both occasions thy cut it out after trying steroid desolvable tabs on it. It was very sore for a few days, but healed perfectly in around a week. mine are caused by the amount of medication I take, which I suppose is a necessary side effect, I need the medication
