Need alternative to wallpaper border

Hi,

I plan to wallpaper my living room but I can't find any papers (that I like) that have matching borders. When I moved into the house I had a picture rail put up but this looked awful because the door frames are so off. It looked so bad I had to take it down. I don't think that there is a single 90 degree angle in the whole house. The ceilings are plastered with a "bullnose" curve and I want paper to finish about eighteen inches below ceiling. How do I get a nice straight line along the top?

Cheers,

Lynthia.

Posted via Mobile Deviceget a long piece of 18 inch wide wood with a straight edge, a stanley knife or a scalpel. Paper to above the line and whilst the paste is still drying use the wood as a rule to run the knife along.

Get a 1 inch nail and gently tap it into the plaster in the corner of the room, do the same in the other corner both at the height you want, now tie black cotton thread to one nail and tie it tight to the other nail.

step back and see what it looks like. you can either paper to the black cotton or use it to mark a straight line using a long straight edge and a pencil. I used a laser sight off a rifle to draw a similar line, but the cotton pulled tight should be ok.

Thanks for the advice. My neighbour recommended a fab joiner so I have had picture rails installed. Look perfect, so much better than the one I had put up when I first moved in. Lynthia.
