Photo of Joseph Briggs

Hello, I'm a new member. I've written a book about Joseph Briggs, who sent the Tiffany glass to Accrington. Now I'm chasing illustrations - and one in particular is proving elusive. I wonder if anyone can help.

In 1901 Joseph brought his wife Elizabeth and their first two children back to Accrington to meet his parents, then living at Church. While here the whole Briggs tribe posed for a photo and I have a copy of that.

However, Joseph and Elizabeth and the two children also went to a local photography shop and posed for a photo.

I was shown a copy of this by Elizabeth Briggs' great niece, in Virginia, and she says she found it on Accrington web. However, I don't know where to look.

Has anyone ever come across such a photograph? It's typical of the sort of photo that families often had taken back in those days.

I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope to hear from someone.

Regards, Writerman

Re: Photo of Joseph Briggs

Hi, there is a Briggs descendant in Accy, called Raymond, who unfortunately does NOT seem interested in his interesting family history. But, unknowingly he may just have a copy of the photo you are after. Mr Dobson would have his address. Longshot, but maybe worth a try. Have not seen the photo you are after on the internet, but ...... good luck with your search.
