Priority Service Register

Priority Service Register
When I moved to this address last summer I have been unable to read my gas and electricity meters. The gas meter is outside under my kitchen window but I would need to walk around the block to get to it (impossible for me). The electricity meter is in a locked cupboard in the communal stairwell and needs an access code to open the door (which I was never told).

The meter reader read the gas meter recently for the first time, but the electricity had not been read since I moved in (July).

Two weeks ago I used the door entry system to let in the electricity meter reader. He supposedly read my meter, but it wasn't shown in my online account. When I contacted my supplier I explained that I wasn't capable of reading the meters myself they advised me to apply to be registered for the Priority Service Register

I answered a few questions about my age and health and have been registered. My meters will now be read quarterly without any action from me.

I had never heard of this register. It seems that most energy suppliers use it, so I thought I would let you know of its existence.
